My rotor is about to fall off?
Just changed my front brake pads. Did the driver's side with no prob. Passenger side however, after taking off the rim, taking the inside and outside pads out, I noticed the rotor was loose and could be taken off!?! If the caliper wasn't on, the rotor would have come off very easily. It was very loose. Again, if the caliper was not on, i could have just taken the rotor off with no effort.
Is this normal? The only thing that has happened on that side was Discount Tire stripped one of my bolts and it was replace by Meineke. Did they F something up? Coincidentally, it was the passenger side, inside pad that was worn down to the metal grind indicator.
Also, after finishing the install and bedding them in, the car brakes perfectly fine. No vibrations or anything, very smooth. There is a little squeal which I will look at the installation again and prolly apply more sealant to the metal surfaces but other than that, brakes feel great.

I think that it's normal for you to be able to remove your rotors easily, cuz as far as I can remember, I used to remove rotors quite easily and sometimes not so easily when doing brake jobs, as for the squealing noise I'd think that you would need to apply more grease to the guide pins that hold the calipers in place or somethin like that.
My evo's brakes squeal once in a while too and it sounds like its passenger as well.

haha, first time doing brakes myself. i've done the rears before and the rotors didn't move one bit. the driver's side front didn't move either so i thought the passenger front was supposed to stay in place. i've helped a couple other people do brakes on other cars and their rotors stayed in place. the passanger front rotor would have literally fell off on it's own it was so loose.

I hate to say this but if u dont know the answer, then u shouldnt probably be doing brake work. THe answer is yes it is normal and is a good thing. Only a few cars have bolts the hold the rotor to hub. Honda is one for example. Its a common practice that people use a lugnut to hold the rotor to the hub when reinstalling pads and calipers.
