Tein S or Tanabe GF210?
Tein S or Tanabe GF210?
Hey guys finally decided to lower the car which of these have most of you guys had exp w/ Tein S Tech or Tanabe GF210... my buddies have the tanabe's and said they didn't like the teins, but I wanna see what everybody here thinks?
Lowering the car is a poor choice to begin with, but lowering it with crappy springs is even worse. It's best to get coilovers if you want to "lower" the car so that you can improve handling, but if you don't care about performance and just want to look fast, then do the Robispec springs, Swift springs, or Works springs.
Just get the Tein Flex ($1300) coilovers or Megan ($1000). Personally I like the Teins because the EDFC unit is baller. They have the same spring rates and you will be able to go low and increase handling considerably better than if you had just bought springs alone.

Most people with the Tanabe springs say they improve handling. Some of us don't want to shell out the $800 minimum for some coilovers. Warr, do you really think that a decent set of springs doesn't help handling at all? Not trying to be an ***, just asking a serious question. Thanks
Ylol. What a bunch of bs responses.
Tanabe makes some of the best suspension period and its proven
on some of the fastest cars in Japan.
GFs are > S Techs hands down. The G stands for grip
while the S in S-tech stands for stylish, saggy, soft.
Megan is crap.
The GFs and S Techs both work on MRs. We've installed dozens of them
on MRs no problem.

our cars are overdampened from the factory so buy using springs that are developed for handling and not for looks such as teh Swifts or Works you will actually increase your handling. maybe not to the fullest extent possible with coilovers but not everyone needs nor wants to spend $1500 on a decent set of coilovers. if you are just on the pubilc roads and don't race springs are fine. I autoX and i am looking at the new performance springs from GTWORX.com
IMO i hate the cookie cutter style of tuning that seems to be the trend right now.

exactly... and I've just been hearing alot of good things from the tanabe camp from buddies and like you said cloud, tanabe develops alot of stuff for race cars. lol also the person I'm getting them from gets them at a damn good deal ;D. plus swift price is o_O!!!
From experience with both springs, the Tanabes look good, ride well and handle better. The tein's are a little softer and lower the car more. I hate the way they handle and it is too low for my taste. Hotchkis rides very similar to the Tananbes in case you are wondering. Also, I called about Tanabe springs with MR struts and the company said they will fit, but with unknown results.
