wheel spacers

i was thinking about buying some cr kai rims 18x9.5n 30 offset that require spacers. my question because the evo is an all wheel drive car will the difference in the tire location put extra strain on the drive line (tranny, t case, diff) and cause premature faiure. I have read on the posts that the wheel offset and the tire size have to be the same, but i could not find anything on the spacers and the side efects.
