JIC FLTA2 Coilovers

Hey guys, Iam thinking of getting the JIC FLTA2 Coilovers for my evo. Has anyone heard of their performance? JIC is well known in Japan to make good sus. stuff. But never heard feedback of any evo's using their sus.

Probably because it's expensive like a mo fo. I heard mixed reviews on the quality of their products though. Not from any reputable sources though just your typical forum gossip.

Well the cusco zero 2R or something like that and the HKS hipermax pro is around the same price i think. Iam wondering which of these top of the line sus. would be the best.

I was wondering which suspension is the most friendly providing a good mix of track and road adjustability.

Since the road where i come from are a bit bumpy and I want to retain some drivability......

So far from friends who have tried

Hipermax II - very good intermediate
Hipermax pro - exoensive and too stiff for a bumpy country
Cusco o2's - cheaper then the Hipermax pro's but also more suited for track use
Apexi N1's - hard hard hard but apparently very good for track. Neversat in a car with one though.
Teins - in a word oversprung!!! But has the racer street cred.

I used to think teins were the dogs bollocks. They are however more of a budget performance brand in Japan though they do work well but god they are hard.

Which tien's are we taking about? The Flex spring rates are pretty soft at 9 and 7kg.

Can anyone post included spring rates for the other brands mentioned and maybe the GABs also. Any info on range of adjustable damping also.

What are the stock rates for comparision?

So the rates for the flex are 9kg 7kg? Thanks i've always wondered what the rates were. The rates for the cusco zero 2R's are even softer at 7kg 6kg, don't know what the damping adjustability is though.

Shcks

Sorry,
never tried the Flex's b4 so not fit to comment.

BUt of interest to those serious motox's there are the DMS (Drummond Motor Sport) shocks, inventors of the the giant struts. Strangley not many people hear of them but many rally tems swear by their abiity to take punishment without breaking.

Actually I like the idea of buying my suspension from a dedicated suspension producer. Makes more sense that they know what they do and more then likely they supply oem to the aftermkt brands.

Yea DMS shocks are really good. Not sure where they are from. Maybe Australia. And before any of u ask whether they only for rally, they are not. Ive seen them on the track on evo 7s and they rock. Tein HA's suck by comparison. I think they rank somewhere near Ohlins.

DMS are also in the same price range as ohlins and require regular maintenance.
Good set-up is as important as good suspension. In my experience, its better to get spring rates which are the same front and back, point the nose down and get more negative camber in front. this eliminates most of the understeer inherent in evos, or at least has worked for me. by the way my spring rates are 14 all round

I have always had very good things to say about cusco. I ran the 02r on my wagon and it was fine for city driving or hi-way.

I have some set time with RA from Tein and they are much more bouncy and stiff.

02r's are 5way adjustable and you don't lose shock movment by lowering them. Nore do you have to preload after lowering the car.

IMHO
