3G, if you haven't driven an evo yet, drive one!

Don't know the stock spring rates.

Is there somekind of cover I could put around the threaded section? I'd hate for a rock to damage the threads.

Ced-

judging by what you and I have in our subie's; dms 40's have had no ill-effects with respect to the elements, i.e. torn up threads or corrosion. The way the JIC's look, I'm sure they'll be even better at standing the test of time.

I almost bought an Evo till the dealer screwed me over by selling the car I had a $10K down payment on. I had one test drive and to me it wasn't that stiff (considering I've had JIC's on my Eclipse for 4 months) and didn't track very well compared to my car. So my conclusion at the time was that JIC FLT-A2's would make the Evo handle better than my Eclipse. HIGH REV (Mike) from Chicago just bought FLT-A2's so once he gets them on and I tune them I'll be able to compare.

Also, after doing a lot of searching there's really nothing you can do to seal the threaded portion of your JIC's away from the elements. If there was there's a chance it'd get caught in the spring.

JIC's are RACE PARTS and require high maintenance. I think the maintenance required is more than fair considering the added performance properly tuned JIC's give a car.

3G - I've never been a car that handled as good as an evo. For me the initial drive worried me because it was real stiff, but it turned on a dime, and took turns like a coaster.

nine - the pictures were taken in East Lake overlooking a canyon. Thanks for the comp. Wait till I get the ce28 in bronze! Still debating though 17 or 18.

Here is another pic because I like opening this thread and seeing my car!

Then I honestly think you need your JIC's tuned at a race shop, cause my Eclipse handles a lot better than stock Evo's. With all the adjustabilty offered with FLT-A2's they can be tuned for the most novice driver up to a driver with professional racing experience.

you had the opportunity to test drive 1 EVO... and you claim your eclipse handles better...?

i guess it's all speculation without some tests to prove it...

maybe the JIC's aren't for me... we have some pretty ****ty winters in PA... i'll have to look into this more...

Sorry, but there is no possible way the heavy, FWD, boat-*** 3rd Gen Eclipse can handle better than an EVO. Hell, a suspension tuned AWD 1G cannot handle as well as a stock EVO.

I think 3G said 'Evo' on accident instead of 'Eclipse'. In one of his first posts I was lead to think he had never drove an Evo before.

Well then why are my times consistently faster than a bone stock Evo I autocross with. It doesn't matter if Im driving the Evo or my Eclipse my times are at least 1/2 second faster per 200 feet. The many features of FLT-A2's can make your car either handle like *** or handle like its on rails........best friend/worst nightmare. With adjustability for Camber, Caster, Toe, 19 way Dampening, shock/strut height and ride height there's over 2000 different ways FLT-A2's can be setup. When they're setup and tuned by a company that knows everything there is to know about your setup be it FWD, RWD, or AWD you can be amazed what they're capable of.

My FLT-A2's were set up by a company that has a lot of experience with racing FWD cars and know how to setup a suspension to make the car handle as neutral as possible. RRE Road Race Engineering. I will say that they have an FLT-A2 equipped Evo right now (380 hp) and its pretty bad *** compared to every 3G with JIC's that they've ever tuned so I will say IN MY OPINION that an FLT-A2 Evo can easily be made faster than an Eclipse should the person know how to tune them, but like I said earlier my car is faster than a stock Evo.

are those the lowest setting on the JIC's? If it isn't how much lower can you go. Cause thats the perfect height that you have it on IMO. I just hope its not the lowest you can go cause i don't want it to bottom out.

Hmm interesting info 3Gphil. Sounds like with proper tuning, the JICs can work magic heh.

Althoug I used to have the utmost respect for Road Race, I lost it all when they started making parts for the US lancer. I used to buy a ton of **** from them for my 2G Eclipse, and I almost bought a RRE 1G eclipse. I even flew all the way down to Cali to check it out. Anyway long story short, they need to jump on the EVO bandwagon, because they have been tuning the 4g63 for a while, same as the other US 4g63 tuners - Buschur, Pruven, etc.

They're definitely "getting in on the Evo bandwagon." They've already got a FLT-A2 equipped Lancer Evo pushing 380 HP.

They're actually doing a full Evo VIII drivetrain/tubular chassis swap into a 3rd gen Eclipse thats already got the FLT-A2's and Stoptech's installed. They're going for 380 HP while making it street legal.

John Mueller and Mike W at RRE are gonna be busy next March...
