I don't want to slam the car at all. I was just asking how low it can go because when you lower coilovers to their lowest setting without adjusting the stroke length they tend to bottom out

The rears have about another inch before you have to start lowering from the spring perch. That is you can go another inch without adjusting travel in the strut.

The fronts are at the lowest strut adjustments. If you wanted to go any lower in the front then you would have to adjust the spring perch.

If you look at the previous pictures of the coilover, where ever the spring perch sat is where I left them. All I adjusted were the strut perch, at the bottom of each strut.

i've been making plans for my JIC purchase for my evo, based solely on RRE's recommendation. it means more to me than damn near anything else anyone could tell me.

just a few quick reasons why i think RRE kicks ***:

1) they build mitsu race cars. all day long. rally cars. road racers. dragsters. they've been beating on eclipses AND evo's for years. not just for horsepower, for everything. i don't think any other shop has a wider range of performance setup and finetuning experience on these cars.

2) they're about the only shop that i found that wanted to make a better car out of my 3g eclipse, and could actually do it.

3) they won't sell junk. a few years back, when underdrive pulleys started showing up for the 3g, they said they wouldn't work, due to balancer issues. they were right, and UR and a few others sold a lot of people screwed up parts cuz they wouldn't listen to mike. i personally know of several other episodes, as well.

3) by the time they tell you, "ok, this product works", you can count on it. they're not gonna slap new part up on their web site just cuz they got a case of it (with stickers!) from japan. honestly, how many vendors on this board seem to do just that? they try out new stuff all the time- install it themselves, on their own cars, race the **** out of it, and then decide what sux and what rox. i trust that.

if those guys say this is the hardware they like for this application, that's enough to get me to put my money down... and you better believe they're gonna do the setup, too...

just my $.02

why the two different sites, i'm not sure. different car focus on the new site, mostly.

there's different stuff on the two, the older one (rre) has more tips, info and such.

I'd actually email John rather than Mike at RRE. John is the suspension WIZARD! Mike's good for everything else.

ccnada,

Now that you had them for a while, is the ride still comparable to stock. I assume you used the standard 10k front and 9 or 8kg rate springs. How does your wife like it? I may have to drive 3000+ miles to a race, so ride quality will be an issue. Thanks for your help.

I hope this is not way off topic. I know that the EVO looks great being drop since I am considering the same thing right now. Have anyone timed their stock EVO on stock suspension and also with a tuned suspension? Settings etc. I know every driver has it's own driving style but with basic driving skill taking proper lines and noticing big improvement will serve the community some vital info.

RX7 - The ride quality is still the same. Perfect. I haven't changed any of the settings. My wife loves the ride and has actually OK'ed the purchase of JIC for our subaru. My friends that ride in our car cannot believe how low the car is and how smooth the ride is.

The problem we had was the car did not sound the way it looked so yesterday I added the HKS RS intake and Forge BOV, ordered also from Vivid, and remarkably I received this order next day.
This combination is great for saying hi to others thourgh the turbo. Man can this thing spool! We also ordered a downpipe from Ultimate Racing to let the turbo breath a little more. I guess I should start another thread on these upgrades.

JIC worked for me and w/ 3000 mile drive, I believe it will work for you.

Black - I've launched at 5k and it still pulls hard. Even more so with the new mods. It actually feels that the rear doesn't drop as much as stock, but I haven't timed anything so I don't know if its good or bad.

ok first thing, whoever tried to use auto-x times as "data" for there handling... is slightly off base with that haha... auto-x is 95% driver... the actual car makes some, but very little difference... i've womped on guys in everything from z06 vettes to s2000's with slicks with just my buddies dohc neon! nevermind the lancer.

but... we use our lancer mostly for auto-x and track use, but the ride has to be decent enough so that we can drive it 500 miles with only minor *** chapping... my little vw has h&r race drop springs, koni's, and victoracers, and rides like total ***, driving it more then a couple hundred miles is painful.

so what do you guys think is the best balence of track (keep in mind ti needs to be reasonably stiff as we run 245 / 40 / 17 hoosiers on it, bigtime stick) and not killing us on the drive there...

we were thinking these JIC's as well but whats with "softer then stock" ?? / more body roll then stock... thats definantly not what we want.

also whats a good sway bar setup to help take out some of the understeer?

Well sorry pete, I can't tell you whats the best balance of track and daily driver because I don't auto-x. I do know that the ride is a lot smoother over the bumps that I drive daily over than when it was stock. The body roll issue in not an issue. In the beginning I think that I wasn't really pushing the car with the JIC. After having them for a few weeks now, I'm charging the same turns as I did stock with the same results. A big fat smile on my face.
I like the smoother ride and I like the way the car looks. The install was straight forward and it doesn't make any noise.

Compare that to the DMS coilovers for my subaru wagon. The install was difficult because it did not have strut tops. The ride quality improved quite a bit. Not even close to the evo though. I was able to achieve the ride height I wanted, but they make so much noise. They cluck and squeak. I wish now I had the JIC on the wagon! Maybe in the future.
