On the stock wheels?

If so post up. Not sure if I should have went with the 255's for my stock wheels. I haven't received them yet....Seems like most are going with the 245's.

Will these work (255/40/17) ?????

Most are using the 245 width due to motorsport regulations. 255 on an AWD car bumps them up into a different category.

im currently running the 255's on the stock bbs. Suprisingly their is really no bulge with these tires and they feel awesome on a hot day. You will see a tad more response with the 245's but for autocrossing and daily driving i havent had any issues. The only real downside to these tires was a little loss in gas mileage.

There's really no reason to. You can, but you won't gain anything and it's not advantageous to run 255s on an 8" wide wheel.

Well I got the 255's mounted and like a previous poster said, the sidewalls look good for only being on a 8" wide wheel.

I'll get pictures up later on.

255s will work fine, and they are closer to the stock tire dia. Still shorter than stock for a minor gearing advantage.

The width is not as much of a topic as the diameter. The 255/40 on an 8" wheel will not be able to take advantage of the extra 10mm of width, but it WILL have a diameter closer to stock than the 245/40. That's really where the choice should be made - which diameter do you prefer?

If you move to an 8.5-9" wheel, then the 255 does gain an advantage from the added width.

Star Spec's
I am running a 255/40/17 on a stock 8" rim and I would agree with the other posters. First the tire has no fitment issues at all at stock hight. I do feel a little less response and more grip than PS2'S in a 235/45/17. I love the way they look on the rim and car and the added grip is great. I was looking for the added grip and a different tire. I had two sets of the PS2'S. My first impression is that the car rides so much nicer as a DD, the grip is awesome and getting better every day and these cars are so responsive anyway I don't think it really takes that much away. I am going to put some huge air in the tires to see if this makes a difference, but for now the car is fantastic. I love the massive grip - exactly what I was looking for and cheap. 775.00 installed
