Enkei RPF1; strong enough?

I remember perusing somewhere on this site that RPF1s are prone to ob longing under road course punishment....
Just wondering if there is any truth, has anyone bent a RPF1 on track?
I already have some 18'' NT03s but am looking to cut costs on track tires with a light 17'' wheel..
Thanks for any info.

I have heard the same thing, but AMS runs them on their TA car. Being one of the fastest out there, it looks like they can take the beating!

One of many internet myths. They hold up fine in motorsports applications as well DD.

I've heard the same thing also, and I dont believe it since there's so many race cars using them. But if you're worry, look into NT-03s. They're alittle heavier, but price are about the same, and they're supposedly stronger.

I don't think you'll break an RPF1. They may flex more under load than some other high $ wheels but I doubt you'll notice that at the track unless you're into pro racing.

Not a myth - speak to Robi (Robert Fuller) if you want more details. Here is a thread to look through for reference, although only small bits talk about strength issues:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ght=spoke+flex

Comment by Robi:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...0&postcount=38

Comment by 350Z owner who broke some spokes while racing:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...5&postcount=57

Followed by Robi's recommended solution, which most of us use:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...8&postcount=59

Now, why AMS's setup works when it's one of the fastest in the country, if not world, is beyond me.

Robi sold me on NT03's - in the 17" form they're ugly (IMO), but in 18x9.5" they are pure sexxxx.

As a reference, guys using the RPf1 or 5-Zigen FN01R-C see a little more control arm rub in the rear using a +35 or +38 offset than the NT03+M +40 (which is closer!). This is a little first-hand proof I've seen between my NT03's and my shop owning friend's 5-Zigens.

To clarify, his +35mm 5-Zigens flex just a little bit and rub the control arm a hair (in extreme autox conditions). He uses a 3mm spacer.

Me, I have NT03's +40, which sit closer to the control arm. Now I have toe-out a hair in the rear, which also helps for a bit of clearance, but I BARELY scrape the control arm w/ the tire. Less rub, no spacer, wheel is closer to the control arm.

So, spoke flex is real.

*edit* horrible grammar fixed.

When I bought them, I didn't think they looked that great, but when they arrived and got on the car, I was amazed:

One of my buddies races in NASA PTE and TTE using RPF1's. They do bend, and one broke (2" section completely broke off causing instant loss of tire pressure).

However, the damage is due to the extreme disregard to any mechanical sensitivity of components. He pretty much just pounds off every single curb.

If you avoid smashing into the curbing, these wheels should be fine.

Why would he smash into curbing? Do you mean he clips the berms when going around corners? I do that at every opportunity.
