Light stock size track wheel

Okay, I don't care on the cost I am looking for the stock size wheel with the same offset and something that is lighter then stock to run on track days.

The Enkei RPF-1 is a good choice for a track day wheel. It's cheap, strong, and if you have to get new tires at the track you won't cry if they scratch it unlike a 600 dollar Volk wheel.

Volk CE28N's should be about 14-15lbs, you can get them for $430ea if you shop around.

I also bought the Enkei RPF1 as a competition wheel (autocross only so far).

The RPF1 is the same dimensions as stock, except that the offset is 3mm less, meaning that the tire sits 3mm outboard of its stock location. So the car's track is widened by 6mm.

With a set of 245/40ZR17 Hoosiers mounted, I save a whopping 10 pounds of unsprung weight at each corner of the car. (35 lbs vs 45 lbs for the stock wheel/tire).

My RPF1s cost $950 for four wheels including shipping.

Unless there have been some developments I'm unaware of, the SSR Comps won't clear the Evo calipers without spacers, at least in a 17x8. Do a search if you want to know more...

If I am not mistaken, Volk TE-37s is what Vishnu ran in the latest tuner comparison printed in Car and Driver.

The 17x8.5's are supposed to fit, according to TireRack.com. I'm not concerned about stock width though, for I do not run in stock class.

Cheapest option is the 17 by 9" Enkei RPM2, at $230 each delivered from Discount Tire. They weigh in at 17.8 pounds, and you can fit 255/40's on them. They are noticeably lighter than the stock rims.

ok, once again, you may want to do a search on that. someone else here did the exact same thing and was shocked when tirerack sent the needed spacers along with the 17x8.5 SSR wheels which do NOT fit without them.

just so you know...

How does the car do on the track with slicks? I just finished a event at Barber and was killing new m3's on the track. 1 passed me but I ended up catching him pretty fast, he also had big *** slicks.

I can't speak for slicks at a road course, but mounting the Hoosiers for autocross transformed the Evo in a very impressive way. It felt like a veil had been lifted from before my eyes, and I could see the world clearly for the first time...

By that I mean that I could corner both fast and in total control. On the street tires, take your pick -- either fast or in control, you don't get both. On the Hoosiers, I was planning my line fifty to a hundred yards (two to four cones) ahead and actually sticking to it -- on the street tires, I rarely planned that far ahead, because whatever I planned, the tires did something to mess me up.

My guess is that Hoosiers are worth about 3 seconds on a 60 second autocross course, compared to the stock A046 tires.
