I would take a look at the Continental Extreme Contact which has already proven to be a great performance all season based tire. There is a lot discussion about this tire on the board. The individuals who have used it on the EVO enjoy it so far.

The Dunlop Sport 5000, Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, and Sumitomo HTR+ are all good higher mileage performance all season tires.

My personal favorite is the Bridgestone Turanza LS-Z.

I just bought 4 Sumi's but they won't go on for a month or two. They had the best overall ratings, especially in tread wear and snow traction.

The Turanza LS-Z is another great tire, however, it falls more into the sport touring class. These tires try to focus on performance, while delivering good ride quality, low noise, and longevity. Great one to consider if you like a bit more creature comforts.

You'll like the Sumi's. I am also curious to see how they perform on the EVO.

I'll let you know how the Sumi's feel....they won't be on for a month or so. It was that or the Yoko Avid's and I didn't have great luck with the Avids on a previous car. They were OK in snow but the wear was bad for me.

The Sumi's are for winter so we'll see how they handle snow.

HTR+

I have Sumi HTR+ on my wife's 02 530i. The car handled last winter great. After 8k miles, I am very impressed. My local dealer recommended these to an Evo 8 owner for good overall performance. 235/45/17 is the size on both vehicles. I say buy them

Avid is the Yokohama family name for their tires. What model Avid are you speaking of?

I had Avids (T4) on my Eclipse GSX. The snow traction was acceptable and I made it through a rough winter with them. The handling was ok, perhaps slightly less than the original Goodyears. The tred wear was dissapointing. I was nice to them and they didn't even last 12K for me.
