One of the dead giveaways for me is the quality of the coilover spring used. Also, the complete unwillingness to say anything about the valving of the damper other then the 36 or whatever ways of adjustability (which is a misnomer anyway).

Coming from the world of 240SXes, this was always a hugely entertaining topic. On many of the 240 forums, it was pretty common to see new threads all the time that asked, "How is coilover XYZ?" when they were _clearly_ one of the pick-a-color eBay variations... 32-way "adjustment", 8k/6k springs, monotube, adjustable lower bracket, etc... the writing was on the wall, but no one was reading it.

Then people would jump in and try to say how awesome their $400 crap suspension is because it allows them to put the car on the frame rails.

Lots of people talking about lots of things that they don't know about. Great way to feed the rumor mills, but not somewhere to go for accurate info.

Some scary looking failures at the beginning of that thread! Coming from the rally side of things, the cheap knockoffs don't last long and get exposed pretty quick, but you still get the never-ending flow of people asking if ____ is any good.

Its nice that places like Evom and clubRSX arent owned by parts dealers so you can have open discussions about things like this.
