I got a set of 18x9 RE30 with nitto nt05's and I have two options, go with 245x40 or 265x35? I was told 245x40's.
What do you guys think?

And yeah, some people use them much much faster obviously. I'm on my 3rd set; plus 2 sets of r-comps on my car with just under 20k. I tracked the first set raw; then used others as rains since. I'm trying to ask for the average street mileage here. Just trying to do an apples-to-apples as best I can.
The USDM VIII-IX come with A046, which more aggressive than AD07's JDM evos. The advan neova ADs are more sport street tires compared to the A0s series.

265 should be ok. I wish they had 265 in 17's. I'd rock em since I got 9.5 width but nitto don't offer that...
Oh and I got the nt05 and running them for 2 days
all i can say is

AWSOME tires and very quiet for this category

Just got my NT-05's (255/40 on 17x8.5) mounted this morning so I can't say much for the grip yet but I immediately noticed a difference in ride, the sidewalls are extremely stiff and I cant wait till they're broke in a bit and I can really start to tear into them.

I vote NT05's cause I just slammed $1050 OTD for 'em

275/35/18 NT05's run a tad wider than the ex-cheeze DZ101 Dunlops. I have slight fr fender-liner rub that will burn off in a few days with the help of an exacto blade.

They are not loud .....sidewalls are NOT as stiff as the factory Advans of course but so far they feel great flipping lanes....hope to get up Mt Diablo and give em a decent work out after a rotation

..drove my stock 18k mile Advans for 2 days and loved the steering response of the 17's..... Just too hard to go back to stock look though.

polished A-arms took 5 minutes w mothers and a sock...recession mod

threepointsix; going to have to disagree. my NT05s are loud for street tires. and this was after riding on my winter tires for a while too.

Any comments on the NT05 vs Z1 Star Spec in the wet?

TireRacks review last year of the Z1 Star Spec had some stellar reviews of it in the wet vs the competition. I need a tire to use on track in the wet - as well as a sticky DD and occasional track tire. I'm mostly concerned about the wet though (can't run my Hoosiers when it's wet).

It has been raining here pretty hard last few days and I notice a great grip on my nt05's. I have not had a sketchy moments and I have been taking corners harder now that I feel a lot more confident on wet roads vs my old all season. I cannot comment on z1's cause I never had em.

I've been doing some research on the Star Specs myself and it seems wet traction is great, but like already posted above, treads wear much faster than the other tire choices, esp. if you're using them on a DD.

So how do you guys think the Z1 Star Specs will wear compared to the stock A046s... as fast, slightly faster, slightly slower, etc.? It's almost time for me to get new tires... but I've been pretty good about tire wear.

Well, they are about 1/3 of the price of Advans. If you're buying new, nothing really is as $$ as the Advans.

I just ordered a set of Z1's myself. With their great dry & wet report from tire rack, their abundance of sizes, and very competitive (usually the lowest) pricing, it wasn't a difficult choice really. Will report back once I get some mileage - and track mileage on them.
