wheel weight numbers
wheel weight numbers
i want to know if anyone has any numbers for reference that they can give as to how much lighter wheels help performane stopping dist, accel 1/4 times etc
i have had many sets of wheels on my turbo civic si but never got any compareable numbers
when i went from 17" kosei K1s (16.7lbs) to 17" Volk CE28s (13.6lbs) i felt a large difference in performance
i want to know how much lighter wheels will help my evo

A good approximation has been discussed and widely agreed upon that states that every single pound you add to your wheel and tire combination is equivalent to adding eight pounds to the curb weight of your car. However, you don't just have one wheel and tire. You have four of them, and all four wheels require energy to accelerate.
A car weighing 3400 pounds including driver does the 1/4 mile in 13.55 seconds. A car with 3lb heavier wheel/tire combo goes 13.68. These are all calculations here. Not perfect, but damn close.
