What fixes it for me everytime is to tighten all the bolts .
Usually a bolt gets loose and makes that sound .
If it isnt that it could be a number of things .

Control arm bushings
Struts
Sway bar bushings
Tie rods

Has the car been lowered at all ?

Mine doesn't clunk anymore. I don't know if it stopped after I replaced the front swaybar. If that's the case it could still mean a lot of things.

Here is something to check, especially if you've ever had your suspension apart. Check to make sure your center strut bolts under the rubber dust caps are snug! My car and my friends car were both making a clunking noise going over bumps and it turns out on each of our cars that bolt came loose and was allowing the shock rod to flop around in the mount.

I've replaced the front tie rods and wheel bearings in my Evo due to alignment and clunking issues. All is good now. Good luck.
