Damn Bolts

Installed 3 of 4 Tein Flex's. The right rear bolt that connects the bottom of the strut to the arm WONTTTT come off. I even went to home depot and bought an electric impact wrench. Still nothing. The same bolt on the other side came off like butter. This one just wont get loose no matter what I do. I might try taking off the entire arm with the struton and cut the bolt off and buy a new one. Any other suggestions. Anybody else run into this problem?

I dropped the front 1.75 and the back well.... still not done ---->

Have you tried heating it up? Maybe a torch? I've had similar issues with my previous DSMs and that usually works for me. You are kind of in the right track of taking it out and taking it to a local shop to get it pull out and still save the arm and all you would have to buy is the bolt.

Maybe a little late, but have you tried any penetrating lube? I bought some stuff at the local auto parts store that is meant for stubborn nuts/bolts. I don't know if something like WD40 will do the same trick or not.

Were you trying to take the bolts out with the car on the ground ?? Like iodine said wd40 works wonders.

jacked the car up, tried wd40 even with the impact wrench. Got it off finally though. I had to drill through the nut until it fell off and bought a new bolt. Car handles great now, but my brain is still rattling from all the bumps

Dam, what a pain. Some impact wrench monkey on the assembly line really cranked your nut down. Ride is bad even on the soft setting ?? Running any wheels ?

That seems to be a common phenomenon with aftermarket struts: I initially set the DMSs on my ST165 to 15 of 20, and then had to back down to 9 for "the roadways formerly known as paved".

By the time you're ready to upgrade, you want a stiffer ride -- just not that stiff.

For future reference, I've found that common 3-in-1 oil does a better job of loosening up a stuck nut/bolt than WD40. (Although WD40 is easier to apply with the spray straw.)

This may sound silly, but did you check for a cotter pin?
