I'm confused as to why you would want to separate the 2 halves for. Just take the whole caliper off the car. Then pop out the pistons, remove the seal from inside caliper. Clean, insert new seal, new piston (optional) and a new dustcap. Simple as that.

Ditto. When I rebuilt the 4-piston calipers on my Z, I never saw any need to separate the two halves of the caliper (nor re-powdercoat it). I'm not sure I follow what you're saying...

The Girodisc is made of titanium to keep the calipers cool under braking ... the Racing Brake ones are made to keep noise down from the pad. Totally different purpose.

I ran the Girodisc titanium shims and had no problems. The problem is, you have to run a more aggressive brake compound. Since the heat doesn't escape as easily out the back of the pad into the caliper, it gets trapped in the brake pad and heats it up more than normal. My DS2500 pads totally melted, coated the rotor and wheel with chunks of brake material and warped my rotors as the uneven melted brake transfer material caused hot spots on the rotor.

It's all a give and take.. what are you willing to compromise for performance?

Caliper rebuild kits done

Hello All,

Came up with a source finally for the rebuild components. All parts are genuine Brembo pieces. Kit includes 2 x 40mm piston seals, 2 x 46mm piston seals, 2 x 40mm dust boots, and 2 x 46mm dust boots. Price is $85 per caliper. Was hoping to put together a group buy as I cannot guess how long these will be available to me. I'm kinda backdooring them alittle...;-) If you think you want or need them, order them now, otherwise I may loose out and everyone will be back to $120 at the dealer.

Get the Ti shields while you're at it and make your new seals and boots last longer. I'll throw in free shipping to those purchasing both Ti shields and rebuild kits. PM or e-mail me if you are interested. martin@girodisc.com

Thanks,

Martin
