I use the Performance Friction Metallic Z pads on the street and am having problems with them chunking off. I am doing a few laps at Autobahn tomorrow so I wanted to get some track pads and got the PF 97's. While swiching pads, one of the Z's pad material was acually broke off in half and there is well more than half the life left on em'. I drive kinda like a puss on the street so I don't get it. This is the second pad thats has done this to me.

I also was told a while back by the pros that the PFZ's are good on the track. So I tried a couple years ago and had to replace my rotors. I really like them on the performance on the street but not the problems that come with them.

Anyone have similar issues?

BTW I have RB 2-piece rotors.

 

The PFZ is not a track pad. I don't know who recommended them to you for that, but I would not run them there. They really are street pads.

Have you contacted PF directly? Could have been a batch error. I would report it and see if they will replace it for you.

 

Ya I'm surprised that I was told I could use them on the track as well. There really is no such thing as a street and track pad in one.
