Exclamation Just installed Hawk HPS having issues!

First off I have been using Hawk HPS pads since about 2004 on all my cars and never had any issues, these are the only pads I have ever used on my IX. I just had a new set of HPS's, front and rear, installed on my GiroDisc 1pc slotted rotors and now they are squeeling. The rotors have around 25k miles on them and I did not resurface them when I had the new pads installed, from all my searching thats the way to do it. The rotors looked good thats why I didn't have them resurfaced. I never had an issue with the HPS's being loud until now. I usually have RRE do all my work but they are a 400 mile round trip from me and I didn't have any free time so I had the dealer install it this time. What can I do about the squeeling? Also I'm using the OEM shims which have 75k miles on them and have never been replaced. I have a new set of OEM shims sitting in my garage if that helps?

Thanks

I had the same issue awhile back when I tried running the Hawks on my dba 2-piece rotors. You can try putting in new shims and putting some anti-squeel on them to see if that helps reduce the vibration/squeel. You can also try bedding them in again, might help.

Make sure the shims are fine and use red anti squeak liquid on them. The pad springs also need a dab as the noise could be coming from there.

Did you break them into the new rotors. A few 60-20's then aleast 3 80-10's.

HPS are really not recommended here.

Uneven rotor surface (used rotors) and new pads (they have their own surface) can make noises. My recommendation, bed the pads properly. And if that is not the solution then its time to re-surface the rotor surface and bed again.
