Why run the nittos? Do you just like the look? There are better performers. I'm probably going with the Hankook RS3's next time I get summers. They're supposed to be the new sweet spot price/performance wise. Those or star specs.

staggered offsets

I found a good deal on some 17x9 rpf1s. Problem is that two are +45 and two are +35. I searched and as long as I run the same tire all around it should work. What spacers do I need to run to make this work?

Tire fitment question

I have been looking at getting some drag radials for the past few months and am now due for a new clutch so I figured while the car was down will be a very oppertune time for new tread I have narrowed it down to the Nitto 555R Drag Radial but there are 2 sizes that are the same size. Time for some quick backgrond on my car I guess lol. It is an 05 8 gsr on stock suspension. I have some Swift Sport springs but they are not installed yet so I would like opinions for both stock and aftermarket springs. I am also on the stock 17x8 Einkei wheels.

The 2 sizes I have been looking at are the 245/45-17 or the 275/40-17. Now I know the 275's are a very tight stretch on an 8" wheel but mustang guys have been doing it for years with no issues. I mainly want to know if the 275 is going to have issues with rubbing on suspension, fenders, ect.

Thanks everyone

Couple questions with rim sizes and drop

Hey guys, I have Tein lowering springs, and im looking to get new rims for the spring. They size and rim are 18x9.5 Rota DPT - Absolute Green (5x100x114.3/e35/73) Now, right now I have stock rims and 245 tires. Obviously I need new tires because of the one inch bigger diameter, but what size (width) of tire would be good to throw on 9.5 wide rims? Also I would want to get a skinner tire wall I presume because I already have a drop. I wont have to have my fenders rolled would I? Thanks alot. Sorry for the noob like questions.

People have good luck with 265/35/18's. That's about the right width for a 9.5" rim. That size is almost exactly the same diameter as the stock setup on 17's so your speedo with be pretty much right on.

You'll probably have to do a little fender work with that setup. What offset are the wheels? That's quite important. I can't tell by what you posted but it looks like 35 is the offset? You probably want a lower number than that. 20-25 or so will get your rims nice and flush with the outside of the fenders without spacers.

BTW: bookmark this link. It's really useful.

You will rub on 275's. I just slightly rub on 255/40/17's. It's not anything that can't be handled with some fender rolling or possibly spacers as well. I doubt a 275 will bolt up and have no issues. That said there is quite a few people running that size or even wider. They've all done work to the fenders though. I hear it's not all that difficult.
There is an official wide tire thread with lots of good info. 275/40 is about a 1/2" bigger diameter than stock.

I would definitely change out to the swift springs. They have higher spring rates than stock and are progressive so they tighten up more as they're compressed. They will probably keep you more planted as you launch and down the track. I have swift sports on my car. They're a high quality spring with a good ride and a sexy drop.

Get the 22. You'll be happy you did. It'll look way aggressive compared to 35 even if you have to roll the fenders a little, it will be worth it.

help please... need suggestions with a problem

So, I just got in a beautiful set of Volk te37 superlaps 17x9 rims and optioned them with Nitto 555 extreme tires in 255/40-17. I noticed if I hammer on the car or go into a turn the back end sits down and is scrubbing the outer edge of my tires.

What do I do? I thought I did enough research to make sure that combo would fit... am I forced to have to roll my Fenders, or do I need new tires?? Please give suggestions, I'm bumming

question about TE37 concavity

i read somewhere on here that volk only uses 2 faces for their concaved TE's for the 18s; 18x9.5+22 and the 18x10.5+15. i don't know if that's true or not, but i'm wondering how much concave do the 18x9.5+12 TE's have compared to the 18x10.5+15 and the 18x9.5+22. i've been looking at a lot of pictures online but it's really hard to tell. i know for sure the 18x10.5's have the most concave though.

^ what offset are you running? you might be able to get away with a 245 series tire or some negative camber but i'm not sure.
