Just found some Hancook RS3 235/45/17's

City Tire in Los Angeles has them. I just picked up my set last night. I have been trying to track down this size tire and have not had any luck. I finally reached out to Hancook USA and they sent me to that shop. I will snap some pics tonight. But first impressions are great. My brother drove my car and said on the street they are compareable to his t1r's. Will hit the track soon.

Thanks for the update. I really like this tire too, but wanted it in factory size for my BBS rims.

why not use 255/40/17's? They fit on stock 8" wide rims no problem, they wont rub fenders unless you are stupid lowered.

I have a set of the 255's and they are simply amazing.

i thought that 235/45/17 was not avaliable for the rs3's?

From what i read they are only avaliable in 225/45/17 and 255/40/17 for 17 inch rims

The tires do not run wide.

I went with a 235 because, ROBISpec said I should run the 235 on my stock rim. I asked about the 255 and he said it was just way to wide. He told me why but I cannot remember for the life of me now.

Tires were 600 installed.

The 235's just came out, they are listed on the website however I had to call hancook directly to find out where I coudl get them.

I wish you could remember why it is they said not to run the 255's...because that's exactly the size I'm planning on buying for my stock wheels.
Can anyone else comment on this?
riceball - what was happening why you hated running the 255's?

Hankook recommends at least an 8.5" wheel width for the 255/40 R-s3 for a reason. If you run an 8" wide wheel, then yes you'll increase the contact patch, but you'll also get some negatives like a reduction in shoulder stiffness, which leads to more tire roll over on hard cornering, and reduced responsiveness. So...buyer beware.

Hmmm, thanks for the response..I'm looking for a wider tire for increased contact patch w/out the drawbacks. I'm wondering if 245/45 would be a better option.

This is so simple, you have a 11 sec evo and you don't know why ....

For every width of tire, there is recommended width of rim. 255 are designed to run on 9" width wheel in order to fully take the advantage of 255 width.

If you run 255 on a 8" wheel, it will result in taller diameter (taller tire height=softer side wall) because there is not enough room (width) for the tire, therefore your tires will not have the same amount of patch contact as on a 9" wheel.

Again this is common knowledge.
