hoosier r6 on stock se rims?

I am looking to get some new tires to mount on my spare set of stock se bbs's. I will only be using them when racing which is mainly drag but i would also like to try a few hpde. I was looking for competion tire not a street tire but dont want a full slick so i was looking at the hoosier r6 dot. I want to know if it would fit the rim without any clearance issues with the suspension or the fender. I have the MR shocks with swift springs. thanks for any input

Any tire will fit....just depends on the size.... generally the biggest you can go on a stock rim without bulging is 245/40/17 but you can get a 255 on there

now with that said dont' get that tire for your suspension set up, I have Re valved bilsteins with springs and that's too soft for NT01's already...I can only see it getting much much worse with a stickier tire.

i was looking at the 245/45 17. i went to track with the rims i have on now at was going thru the traps at 8k and was only trapping 114. i figure if i get a taller tire it will bring my revs down and help my mph.

By too soft u mean it would compress too much because of the extra traction? What would you suggest for my set up?

Correct, NT01/R888 would be the stickiest tire i would put on stock struts / spring combo

even then on a road course the car pushes allot more then it does on street tires.

323 whp on TT dynojet is about right for 115-116 mph.

Truth is - pick one area to race in. You want to drag -- R6s are not drag tires (no road racing tire is). Get drag radials.

If you want to do DE towards TT -- start on good extreme summer tires. Then progress to r-comps.

The R6 won't be the best drag option as it's sidewalls are not designed to give under launch. As a result you won't have the wide flat footprint desired for launching at the line. By the same measure you don't want a drag radial for auto-x or road events as their walls are too soft/are not built for cornering. To do it properly you should should have a set of each.

Fitment wise that depends on the size. I've seen many run 245/40-17 and 245/45-17 with no issues.

Ive noticed significantly less longitudinal acceleration between DOT slicks for auto-x or road racing (Old R3S03's, V710s, z214 C71s) vs even mediocre street tires. A good street tire would do you well in all without being the best in any.

Yeah, r-comps for AX or road race are made for the corner grip

That depends. I liked 245/45s for my Evo in DE events. Slightly taller by .4in dia. 245/40 are a smaller diameter (.6in).

245/45s have almost the same sidewall length as 235/45 - .1in difference. 245/40 are .3in shorter sidewalls.
