Ohlins PCV problem ((

Hi,

got an issue... After car is jacked up and lowered down one coilover (front right) stays in the uppered positon. For some time or when I start driving. Then it goes to normal position with "clank" sound. Car drives OK, there are no leakage of oil from coilover and there's no damage on it.

What could it be? Is it dangerous? I'm afraid it can stay in this position during driving after going up the hill or whatever

BTW, It's Ohlins PCV for Evo IX.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Anton

sounds like the spring is binding up due to possibly not being seated correctly so it keeps moving around.

So should I remove the coil and check the spring seating?

Sounds more like the spring unseats itself and not returning to the lower perch properly when lower back to the ground. Helper springs can help with this issue. Lower the car slowly next time and guide the spring into position. I have the same Ohlins PCV and use to the same thing.

So in your case it does not return to proper position as well? What helper springs did you install to avoid the issue? Or just ignoring it?

I replied to this, but it seems it didn't make it through. I would just lower the car slowly, and made sure the springs seated into the perches correctly. Since then however, I've raised my fronts to full height, in light of suspension geometry, and thus the spring doesn't unseat anymore. I have only installed helper springs in the rear now, since my rear is lowered. The helpers definitely keeps the spring front being unseated and clanking around when the suspension is unloaded. Good luck.

Can you take some pictures? You have the non-height adjustable fixed perch struts that use OEM fitment springs?

Oh, these fixed perches uses OEM style springs, and should not be unseating, or need anything I mentioned. I was thinking the PCV coilovers. You might have suspension binding as one poster suggested.

1) No problem absolutely!

2) I hope so... I'll re-mount them tomorrow to see what could be done.
