S Tech vs H Tech Springs

I just recently met another evo owner that has the Tein S Tech springs on his car. It looks very nice but he said that he bottoms out a little in the front of the car. And from what I have heard the H Tech springs are better for daily driving, is this true? I don't want to lose that stiff suspension feeling will it still be about the same? And if or whenever I get springs I am going to have to get my car aligned and balanced right? Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks
Michael

Im going with the H techs. you will have to get it aligned, prob the toughest part on the Evo.with alignment and install your looking at 250 or more plust cost of springs.

spring rates for the high techs are 196 front 268 rear...stock is 180 front 224 rear. I went with the h-techs just cause i didnt want to bottom out and scrape all the time.

Does anyone have pictures on their evo with the h tech and if some one has a pic of the s tech it would make it easier for me to decide based on how aggressive the look is....

the s-techs drop the car front and rear 2.0, 1.9 respectively, and the h-tech drop it 1.5, 0.4. basically the h-tech is the same as the s-tech as far as spring rate, but at a half inch less drop. the s-techs basically let u ride on the bump stops anytime your taking hard corners...you'll notice this when you try to take a hard corner and notice the front of the car sliding a little bit...that's the spring no longer doing its job and the bump-stop taking its place, even after cutting the bumpstop about an inch both front and rear. the h-techs, tho half an inch higher, won't help out too much. the thing that you should be concerned with is suspension travel. since there is much less travel, and the springs aren't hard enough to keep the suspension from bottoming out, while taking hard corners you'll adversely affect the cars handling...by a lot. but now...keep in mind the name tein calls these springs... "luxury master" and ...i forget the other one...but they're not exactly for high end performance/track use. have fun guys =)

NOw I had experienced that on a previous car... What do you do to get the lowered look and keep it from the bottoming out????

evonation,

any set of coil overs will allow that, since most coil overs offer more travel via a shorter shock length. ideally tho, you'd want to look at something like the tein flex(note: not recommending it...just using it as an example) where you can adjust the spring rest height as well as the height in which the shock sits in relation to its lower(on our cars) mounting point. what one wants to do is set the spring rate needed for a specific car, then set the height at which they want it on the shock(or in other words basically how much shock travel they want....more for rough courses, less for smooth flat courses), AND THEN after all that, you set the ride height of the car for specific applications(i.e, different courses, different driving conditions, changing of wheels/tires, etc).

ride is close to stock and doesnt seem to bottom out at all
performance cornering wise seems better than stock.
Overall I am extremely happy, drop is perfect for me!

Thanks for posting the H-Tech pics. I think I just made my mind up on which springs to go with.

I had apexi N-1 coilovers on my ITR. I liked them and all, but once I got them to the height I liked I never moved them again. I just don't see me spending that much money for coilovers again. If I need shocks down the road I'll just buy some adjustables.
