Need Help FInding Front Suspension Clunk Noise
I thought I had this one figured out. Did lots of reading and searching on here, looked at the car a bunch, and thought I had narrowed it down to the inner tie rod.
I get this clunking noise from the passenger front suspension, almost sounds like a CV, but is not as consistant and a bit deeper sounding than a bad CV. IT happens when turning left bad, not so much turning right, and a little bit when hitting regular road bumps at speed.
With the front wheel off the ground, I was able to put my hands at 12 and 6 and get ZERO play. Putting my hands at 3 and 9 I got LOTS of play.
I checked the ball joint by prying up on it and everything is tight. The wheel bearing is good, the shock and mount seem solid and tight.
I replaced the inner and outer tie rod (had it apart so why not do both?). Stupid me didn't check the wheel before I drove it, but the noise is still there.
It also seems somewhat temperature dependent. 30 and below and it is super loud, 50 and up and its pretty quite.
I am going to look at the car again tonight, but didn't know if someone on here might have some insight into this or a good method of checking things over. Im thinking control arm bushings, but I checked those before and the seem good too.
At a loss...
Thanks!

How did you confirm wheel bearing. I have a clunk that has been driving me nuts. I thought it was the strut as it seems typical and what many threads point to. I had all the struts recently rebuilt by Bilstein and tuned for track use. They are awesome now, but I still had the clunk. WT>>.
The brakes are totally rebuilt, dust boots, seals, everything. I was thinking it was a bearing, but I cannot get any play with the usually wheel test of 12 and 6, and 3 and 9, like you did. Nothing. totally solid. EVerything else seems tight.
I just rebuilt pretty much everything so engine mounts and things like that are not it and solid.
This place seemed to have decent prices.
