Road Race JIC setup goodness

So I went out to the Porsche Club Short track series at the Streets of Willowsprings last weekend. It was the first event I have ever done that had any sort of competitive nature to it. At the end of the day all the cars line up and you are sent out on the track with lots of space between cars to do a warm up lap and 2 timed laps. I really liked this setup and will defiantly be going back.

Anyway here is the best part… I won the EX group witch is anything non Porsche with a lap time of 1:13.870 . I also had the 7th fastest time out of 103 cars. The 6 cars that beat me were all Built up Porsche race cars that were trailored to the track. Also I did this with a car that has half the hp than a lot of the cars there. Honestly it was the JIC’s set up by Roadrace that lets me take the corners at an unholy rate of speed that helped me to win the event.

I dynoed the car this morning and made 272whp on XS Engineering’s 4 wheel dyno so I defiantly didn’t run that time because of HP and means there is lots of time to be gained now from HP mods.

They still haven’t posted the times from last weekend but you can find out what some past times have been here.
http://www.porscheclub.com/events/03...No8ccwrev4.htm Looks like most of the cars run around a 1:19 average.

I'm sure the driver had something to do with that as well ! Congrats. Now that you're hooked I bet you are preparing a master plan to go after the other 6 cars...

good to see

Way to put the Smackdown on!

I love seeing post like this. I still do not know why people insist on turning the EVO into a drag car when it's true nature is track.

Good Job

Nice Job... maybe we can go race sometime together, I am planning on purchasing an Evo... I am in Irvine too. Road Race JICs seem like the ideal choice for my coilovers when its my time to purchase

those are excellent times. JIC coilovers make the biggest difference in the world. Our project evo made huge gains on the field once we put those on.

You should come out and race in Phoenix with us. Valentines Day track event at Firebird then NASA event at PIR the next weekend. We will all have our EVOs and WRX's out there racing and hanging out. Drop me an email if you need more info or want to come out, race or need a place to stay.

Just curious to see how much you cut in lap times going with the JIC set-up. Did you change much on the corner balance? How about toe, camber? What is a good street/track ride height?

4ringturncoat - We have a local Porche tuner here that does a complete race alignment, corner balance, and full happy meal on the car. Pretty much since the car is daily driven as well, we have the car lowered about 2 inches in the front and 1.5 in the rear. The camber in the front is probably about -1 degree and the rear about -.5 degree. I am not sure about the toe. Toe is REALLY important for handling...thats sounds stupid as I do not know what ours is ....

What we found as important in our handling and lap times was going with some Toyo RA1 race tires which REALLY grip the track. Also we put on the 23mm Cusco rear sway bar with the Perrin endlinks. Now the back end swings around so much better letting us excellerate out of the turns almost like a drift machine as we have no UNDERSTEER.

If you want to shoot the poop about racing or handling setups give myself or Cheyne a call!

Thanks
Dan

How's the ride on the street compare to stock and what spring rates are you all running? Are the shocks double adjustable?

Thanks

The spring rate is 9kg in the front and 8kg in the rear. Very comfortable for street driving. They do have other spring rates 7 and 6 as well. I would recommend keeping the 9 and 8 and then adjusting your dampening depending on the driving condition. You can also adjust how much the shock travels from the spring perch. The shocks are monotube unlike Tein which is twin tube. So the JIC or way more reliable. The shock has adjustable dampening which does the compression and rebound together. But they are also nitrogen filled so you can change the pressure as well. My favorite part about the coilovers is the camber plates up front and the easy adjustability for track days.

Any coilover will always ride stiffer then stock. Its a race part, it will enhance performance and take away from comfortability. But isn't it worth at 80mph with no body roll through a turn?

We stock these as well as others from HKS, Tein, Ohlins, and more!

Give us a call to order some if interested.

Did you track the car with the JIC's only? Interested to see how much the rake change effected turn-in and rotating the car. How about on power push? TIA
