choosing the right tire...

I'm looking for help trying to figure out my next tires. Right now I'm on Hankook v12 255/40/17 and they don't hook up at all for me. I spin real bad. I'm torn between the mickey Thompson street comp and the nitto 555r. But my friend that runs a wheel shop swears up and down about the nitto motivo.
I hardly ever drive the car. But sometimes I'll drive it 100 miles at a time. So I can't run too soft of tire, it'll just be a waste, kinda rules out drag radials. Any suggestions or experience with the tires I listed? Thanks for the help.

I guess I must say that I do plan on hitting the drag strip maybe once a month or so. But I plan on driving an hour to the track, racing, then driving home all on the same tires.

if u have the money i dont know how much the tires u said cost but i LOVE my bridgestone S-04 Pole positions. i run that same size in that tire. if your spinning all 4 your probably making a ton more power than me though.

255/40/17 RS3 best bang for the buck. They normally last about 6-8 track days depending on driving style or about 10k miles street driving.

Also what are the spec on your car? That would probably give everyone a good idea on what you might want to get.

The car doesn't make crazy power, around 380hp. I think its just the fact that these tires are a few years old and have a real hard sidewall, being a 40 series. I see it making maybe 430hp or so in the near future. Id like something that's going to last a while. The mickey Thompsons are only 146 dollars a tire and look like a real good tire. I just don't know of anyone running them on their Evo, I think they're kind of new tho. Thanks for the help guys

RS3 > over the MT the are basically the same as the v12 in tread wear.

Also the new star specs are coming out if you want sticky and good but longer life.

B-Stone RE-11, Dunlop Z1's, R-S3, and Kumho XS come to mind. I'd also agree that they may have become a tad hard due to their age, which might be part of the problem.
