Suggest me a tire
As the title states. I'm looking at picking up a set of 18" rims for the Evo in the spring. The thing is i'm not sure what tire to put on it. I don't want a ***** to the wall R compound as i would like it to at least get a few summers out of it. I don't use the car as a DD but I usually put about 5000+km a year on it.
I'm mostly looking for dry performance, something with a treadwear rating no lower then 200 but i would like it up around 300. I would prefer something thats a good bargin, but i have no issues with paying top dollar as long as the benefits are worth the extra coin.
Give me some options.

I went with Dunlop Z1's (245/40/18) and couldn't be happier with them. They lasted almost 3 summers (I switch to winter rims from December-March). During that time, I only made about 6 launches at the track but traction was great. They suppose to be releasing a new version this year and probably going to go with them. Road noise isn't too bad with the windows down.

A tire not many have looked at. Very good tire overall.

Theres something to say about less grip.... If you arent racing and need ultimate track times, a good Dry/wet tire IMO is the way to go. The continentals extreme contact DW work pretty well for a daily driver or car that sees rain a bit. The sidewalls are pretty soft, but that works well for rain.
Ive also had fun on the Hankook V12's and BFG K-DW's. Both a reasonable DW tire that wears much harder than the RS3 / Z1 / R1-R or other max grip summer tires.

For decent wear but still something that will take some abuse on streets I would look at the B-Stone RE760 or Hankook Ventus V12's. The V12 would do a bit better on the dry handling side. The B-Stone a bit better wear and quieter.
