Evo IV suspension and wheels
Evo IV suspension and wheels
Hi guys,
In desperate need of help I have an Evo IV and im pretty sure the shocks have gone has standard suspension setup with king springs (lows).
It starting to feel all the bumps in the road push down on corners of the car and its very stiff sooo what would be my best option? I want to avoid getting coilovers as they feel nasty and harsh on normal road driving but everynow and again I give it a good drive dont want loss of grip and bodyroll ect.
Is there a later model evo suspension that is bolt on and an upgrade for an IV?
Also do the 17" evo 5 or 6 wheels fit on an evo iv with no problems?
If not what is the biggest tyre I can use on an evo iv it has 16/55/205 on at moment seems small to me.

You could try chucking in the bilstein shocks from the later evos in, the rears will bolt straight in while the fronts will need a few mods, its been covered before but in short you'll need shims and to possibly drill out your knuckles.
As for wheels, when I had my evo4 I ran evo5 wheels (evo6 wheels are same specs) , so I could use the brembo calipers, on these wheels I ran 225/45/17s. I didn't run a low ride height (about 15-20mm lower than factory) but it still rubbed on the rear bumper bracket, so I trimmed that down and it helped a bit. So you could try 215/45/17s and will probably be ok.

Ok thanks for that very much, I have ended up going for the tommi evo 6.5 strut setup brought all 4 for $500 nzd. they had done 87,000ks do these bolt straight in no problems? They arrive on monday.
Also do you know what the best tyre size is keeping evo iv stock 16" wheels on it then? I have 16/55/205 hankook optimo k415 on it at the moment and just doesnt feel right maybe tyres arent wide enough or profile is too high? What do you think?
What is a good all year round tyre also?
