Pad squeel

Do the evo brakes have pins with boots or any other lube requiring areas to help with low speed brake squeel?

Brake squeal is very common on these cars. Pull the pads and use anti squeal on everything on the brakes you possibly can, short of the front of the pads of course.

A lot of this has to do with how aggressive of pad you choose to run. In general, reuse the factory shim oriented with the arrows in the direction the wheel turns when going forward. Smear some stiff grease on the back of the pad and apply the shim. Also apply the same grease to the other side of the shim where it contacts the piston. There's some rubberized products you can buy and use in place of the grease but this works for me.

Some pads used for racing will squeal no matter what you do and you can hear this happen when viewing WRC on You Tube. If you search in the Tires, Wheels, Brakes and Suspension section you will encounter much discussion on this subject. Pads I've never heard making a sound squeal for some people.

Yes, probably 50% of the complaints about brake noise originate from people running hawk pads.

Wonder if rotors would help with squeel? Some are marketed to help...

lol hawks were my first replacement pads from brembos, they looked like straight metal when I took them off, horrible horrible pads with lots of noise no matter what you do. I guess they stopped me alright, but the noise was indeed embarrassing in LA traffic.

When I put brembos and ferodos on after, without turning the rotors, they didn't squeal one bit for the life of the pads.

I've had good luck with all sorts of street pads since I have been using Girodisc brake quiet shims in between the pads and pistons.

Good to know, but I doubt even those would help with the hawks, the hawks just don't seem to be meant for the street really. But if you want to try it let us know that would be impressive if it works.
