RotorPro disks from MAP

Curious what other's experience is. I got my MAP brake disk package yesterday and it uses RotorPro disks all around, I would like to know if anyone has ever used this package or at least the disks?

http://www.maperformance.com/map-sta...l#.UYpFy4eyD7s

Quick FYI, I design brakes for a living, work with brake manufacturers and have designed a handful of disks myself so I maybe slightly more **** then the normal customer.

When I got the disks one of the first things I noticed is that there is no balance cut. Typically there is a grind or plunge cut on the OD of the disk for static rotational balance but these didn't have anything.... which leads me to believe they are not balanced and couldn't find any indication that they are.

I fear that these are going to judder like a **** and curious what other people's experience has been with them. I contacted MAP also to see what their input/experience was still waiting to hear back.

Thanks

They are centric blanks that are machined by Rotorpros, I have heard nothing but great reviews when properly bedded in, however, they are a budget brake rotor designed for street use.

I have a set of centric blanks for winter use, and they "Work" just fine for that. Not much else to say about them I guess, no vibrations or pedal feel.

I have PF two piece for summer and racing so havent tried the centrics on track.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I have no intent for track use with these disks so that's not really my concern, just looking for some overall basic information.... just something that caught me be surprise.

Dallas, why do you swap brake rotors for winter and summer? Isn't winter so light weight it's irrelevant to the pads/rotors?

2OP: Lack of grind does not mean they are not balanced.

In my professional opinion/experience.... I've never seen it otherwise, because cast materials especially such as grey irons as it cools changes the metallurgical structure (from heat deviation) it must be machined to be balanced unless counter weights are added.

However, I will be open to be proved wrong, I'm always up to learn something new.
From the various manufacturers I work with and the handful of disks I've designed, single disk, drum in disk, vented goose neck or inboard plate attached through various types of grey iron materials they've all been ground/plunge cut to be balanced to our spec.

OP, have you installed and run this kit yet? What are your thoughts so far?

Its going to be weeks from my install and actually driving, I'm doing a lot of other work at the same time.

I'll be sure to post something about it because I searched and couldn't find anyone else but one or two people who have used it and mentioned it.

I also purchased these rotors from map. With the cross drilled and slotted look, I hope the drilled holes don't crack like a lot of people warned me. We shall see if these are true quality. I also went with stoptech brake pads all around for slighlty improved bite. I hope this combo gives me a slightly bit more of stopping power in situations on the street

Thanks for the input, 99% of the time drilled rotors will crack, its just the nature.
For example, I've never seen one not have stress cracks over time.

I'll answer your question from my point of view and hazard a guess that it's the same reason Dallas switches rotors for winter.

I run my track pads all summer on my summer rotors, and run stock pads for winter. I change rotors to keep the rotors "mated" to the track pads I use in the summer. Also, I've heard of snow/ice getting stuck in the slots which doesn't sound fun, plus having a cheap set of rotors for winter saves the more expensive ones for summer only.

I bought the package deal from MAP and haven't had any odd vibration or odd feelings from the brakes. Might have put in between 500-1000 street driven miles on them.
