Alignment Problems....

Alignment Problems....

Hey Guys... needed some Evom support lol

**This will be lengthy but wanted to be detailed**

So while the car was parked over winter I got some suspension work done. I did front fender braces, Whiteline roll center kit(front), whiteline anti lift kit(front control arm), whiteline bump steer(rear), whiteline trailing arm bushings(rear).

I went for an alignment to a place I have gone twice and never had a issue. The guy did my alignment. The specs I was requesting was FRONT: -2.4, REAR -1.4 or -1.5, 0 TOE. I have had many alignments and no issue getting these specs. He managed to get my front to my spec however the rear is the issue. He could get my Toe to 0 but the camber to -2.8.

Now when the guy who was installing my bushings advises me that my bump steer bushing bolts were messed. The treads were stripped and got it on by basically taking a vice grip and a ratchet and going to town. The alignment guy could also tell the bolts were bad. So I went to Mitsubishi and ordered all new hardware for where the bump steer kit is. So I got new bolts, nuts, washers, etc. Costed me like $36.00.

I spoke with my friends and they advised me that the offset on the bump steer is probably off, it should be at the 6 o'clock position. I took the car to a shop I deal with locally and they took off the arm and sure enough the offset was off. The drivers side was at like 3 o'clock and the passenger was at 9 o'clock. They adjusted it and brought them both to 6 o'clock position. I was super happy thinking ... now everything should be good now!

I get up early and get another alignment......................... guy still cannot get my specs, thankfully he didn't charge me but still SOOOO FRUSTRATING. My friends think the guy just doesn't know what hes doing. Even a few people I know at other shops Ive asked and theyre scratching there head!

I wanted to post here to ask what you guys think... is there something im over seeing?? Or could it be just the technician. I get my alignment at a dodge dealership so not sure if hes super familiar with multilink suspension. Some ppl says there is a technique involved.

What is the camber at now? How far is the car lowered?

Post pictures of the current position of the adjustment bolts.

Here's a pic is how the alignment was left off at. Pic of how the car sits. Now I will let u know that the right height has never changed.
I don't have a pic of the way bolts are but I can go under the car and snap
Some I do have a pic of the way we positioned the whiteline bump steer bushing.

Not sure what you mean by the ride hight didn't change---that car is low. Good possibility that the new bushing put everything back the way it should be, since it likely was way out with the geometry of the car being so low. You restored the actual position of some things limiting your adj. The old bushings just allowed you to have more adj do to wear--not to mention you said the new bushings were installed at 3-9 position---that would make a hell of a change. I digress. The car is too low to adj it to factory specs.. raise it up and you get back to factory or closer at least. Leave it down and its going to limit you adj. Not hating, just tellin'.

Oh I know ur not hating, I appreciate the feedback. What im trying to convey is this.

The front has the alignment I want. The front I agree is low however the rear is not actually as low as it looks. I'll see if I can take another picture. The rear is the issue. I am able to get the specs for the front. I am not able to get the -1.5 in the rear.

Yepp, I was talking about the rear, saw that in the alignment sheet. same recommendation-- just a thought.

The picture you posted is the link that controls toe in. The lower link that has the shock on it is what controls camber. Get a quick pic of that. Most cars are not camber adjustable, so the tech may not know to even look for it since he doesn't see any after market parts back there..

And the car does look quite low in the pic, although the fisheye style shot makes it hard to tell.
