spacers vs hub centrics

Hello EVOM. i have been contemplating on either getting exteneded studs and spacers or hub centrics to fit my rims but havent been able to just come to a decision on which to get. either way i go im spending about the same amount. so which have you all used and results? thank you for your opinions.

hub rings and spacers are two completely different things. What are you trying to accomplish?

no not hub rings. hub centrics as in spacers with lug studs already installed that bolt to your existing hub or to replace the original lug studs with extended arp studs and throw on a spacer to fit wider rims with certain offsets

Those are called bolt on spacers....


Anyways..... What wheels are you trying to fit to the car? Stocks? Aftermarkets that don't clear the caliper and/or the strut?

Yes, do extended ARP studs and slide on hub centric/wheel centric spacers from Motorsport Tech.

spacers are exactly as you think, they space the wheel away from the hub and change the effective offset of the wheel without buying new wheels. there are two types of spacers (more like 4): slip-on spacers that require extended lug studs and bolt-on spacers that have integrated studs. Personally I wouldn't use bolt-on, I'd always get extended studs and use the slip-on ones. the other two spacers are explained below, because slip-on and bolt-on spacers can be just spacers or they can have hubcentric rings in them. if your wheels are hubcentric, ALWAYS use hubcentric rings

hubcentric rings are what keep the wheel centered on the hub, not the lug nuts. lug nuts help, but hubcentric rings are what does it. evos have a 67.1mm stock hubcentric ring, lots of aftermarket wheels are larger than this and will require hubcentric adapters which is not uncommon at all

this is a slip-on spacer (silver piece) with a hubcentric ring (the blue piece). this spacer has a hubcentric ring on it already as you can see inside the blue piece but it was likely the wrong size for the wheels this person was using

Motorsport tech makes custom hub/wheel centric spacers of whatever size you want on hub side and wheel side.

I *highly* recommend them. I've had them make me a bunch of different ones and am always pleased.

Thanks for the recommendation. Their prices are fair, I like it!

Would 20mm spacers with stock +38 offset wheels look silly because of the high offset? I was thinking 20 rear maybe 15 front? hmmm

you're gonna have to roll the fenders if you're doing that. anything more than a 10mm spacer in the rear is risking rubbing

Running a 20mm in the rear gives a +18 which works if you roll & pull the rear fender. Ran it up on the calc & it works, but only due to the 8" wheel & running a 245/45 tire

Do you happen to think running stock tire size would save me from rolling my rear fenders?

I'm only on MR Bilstein struts and gtworx springs. The car doesn't look very low, especially in the front.
