question on brakes

So, about 1k miles ago i had my brakes and rotors replaced with the new stoptech street pads (they had shims already on the back side) so i did not reuse old shims and centric blanks all around. they squeal so loud (like a train) but only with mild to low braking and at slow speeds. it stops on a dime with hard braking. bedded them a few times already. its driving me nuts! i didnt use any stop squeak goop or replace the caliper pins and springs. any suggestions? thanks guys!

The squealing will sometimes disappear after pads reach a certain point.
Have had that before with harder pads that give off less dust.
Some pads just don't suit the disc.

Recommend putting the OEM angled shims back-in front & rear. That stopped my issue years ago when my brakes were howling

They're angled for a reason

^^^ Do what he says ^^^
I installed ferodo ds2500's on my car and holy crap they squealed hard. I Put on Girodisc quiet shims and some disc brake quiet (like copper anti seize but better?) and same outcome. I had to take pads off and reinstall the angled shims that come with the car and that stopped it.

I run the same brakes. Just run the OEM shims. Certainly no need to stack the ST shims w/the OEM's

If all we are talking a little squeak first thing in the morning or at low speed I'd say run what you have. Good brakes are hard to keep quiet.

yeah i havent gotten around to doing the shims. the squeak really doesnt bother me that much anymore. they do have great stopping power when i mash on them. 60-0 feels like instantaneous.

as said a smear of copper eize in between a shim and pad and a smear in the other side up against the pistons but only a smear so it doesn't fall off into your disc, I also put a little on the pins just for good measure, I have DS2500s and no squeal at all
