Advan A048 for street use
Since they are R compounds, they will wear out really fast so only if you don't mind spending 1100 every few months just on tires. They will be loud as hell too. Traction will be an issue in wet when the treads starts to wear down. Definitely not a good choice for street if you ask me but they will be good choice for track days.

Thanks, Filip.
I ended up checking after I logged off here and saw the sizes. Still no 245/40/18 (or even 235/40), so at least I didn't miss the boat. I will probably end up replacing my Toyos with these or with the Michelin intermediate tarmac tires that Ary got... (check the thread about the last Mach V meet for pics).
The A048 looks different than the older Yokohama DOT-legal road race tire (A032R?), but that older one is REALLY, REALLY loud. Unbelievably. First time I rode in a car with those on, the noise was so bad I thought something was wrong, like a wheel had fallen off or something. Seriously.
Mini-review of a similar tire: The Mach V Evo is currently wearing Toyo's RA-1's, in the 225/40R18 size. They're a DOT-legal R-compound tire. I don't notice any additional road noise (stock tires are pretty darn loud), but the grip is awesome, particularly when they're warm! I just didn't want to go with WORSE performance than stock, and the choices are really limited. My Toyo rep tells me he runs the RA-1's on the street, and that he gets suprisingly good life from them, considering the R tread compound -- more than just a few months, unless you drive 2,000 miles a month.
They're not bad in the wet -- better than I expected. But they need to be warm.
They're scary when it's anywhere near freezing.
Anyway, I've just written absolutely nothing about the tire you asked about, but what the heck.
