best suspension setup for the price

Well I'm picking up my evo next week and I'm already thinking of how I should tune it. The one problem is my tuning will most likely be on the minimum due to my part time job. Considering that, what would the best way to set my suspension up since I probably wont be able to afford coilovers? I'm interested in autocrossing and road course....none of that drag racing crap.

Leave the car stock. No need to change suspension in your case. The Evo has the capabilites of beating almost any car in the handling department. You cannot put springs on the car and maintain its excellent handling characteristics. Learn how to drive your car and you will find "free" rewards.

I agree with you on this.

I disagree with this statement. I put Tanabe GF210's and a Progress group 25mm rear sway bar on, and the car corners flatter, understeer is virtually gone, and the ride is the same as stock - maybe slightly better. The car is now very neutral and balanced, and an absolute blast to drive. BTW, these observations come after lapping at Mid Ohio all day on friday. I would recommend this setup to anyone who wants to improve on an already amazing setup.

sorry to say these guys are right. at the last track day a guy with stock suspension/motor, beat me by 2 seconds a lap. I have the right coilovers but I don't have that guys skill.
so drive it stock for a while and then think about your mods. the car can handle better but it really is very capable out of the box.

Thanks for the info. I really liked the suspension setup on the evo when I test drove it, though I am not sure If it had the strut tower braces. How much of a difference do they make? My evo ,that i'm picking up this week does not have the braces, so I was thinking of eventually purchasing some cusco braces. Is there a noticeable difference on the evo w/ strut tower braces and one without?
