Advan 048......what compound ?
Neal,
I know there are 5 different compounds for the 048 offer in JDM....> SS, S, M, MH and the new GS.
Can you tell us what compounds are the Advan 048 carry from TireRack?
also, do you know will Yoko bring in more size in the near future......as of now I think the only size in our mkt is 18" or 13".
thank you

Like you said, the A048 is offered in Japan in many different tread compounds like soft, medium, hard, etc etc. However, the US version of the tire is different, and its tread compound is not specified. We have asked Yokohama many times to specify what compound the US market has, but they just say "it is what it is".
Same thing happened with the A032R. For a while, they only had one version for the US and it was never disclosed which compound it was. Then they came out with the soft compound and it was determined that the original tire available was the hard one. The Kumho VictoRacer is the same way. No one really knows if its a hard or soft compound because they wont say, or don't have an alternate version to compare it against.

Neal, thanks for the reply and the "inside story".
Wow...I can't believe those tire company will do something like that. I think US should be one of their biggest mkt out there...even with different compounds on the same tires, the sale figure won't be affect too much.
Any idea why they don't want to disclose the compounds on their tires?
Look at the history of the A032R, I guess the current A048 may be on hard compound too

Yeah its crazy what some of the companies do and don't do. I wouldn't count on the current version being any specific compound based on the history pattern of the A032R. If they are that inconsistent in whats produced, it could be any kind of compound.
