David,
When you say splash guard are you referring to the undertray?

I knew the price was going to be right, but there would be a catch... what about the people who need the undertray? Piece of mind at 100 to 160mph if you will.

Yes, the splash gaurd or undertray whatever.

My race car doesn't have an undertray on it and I have been 175 mph in it. The Buick I drive has not undertray on it and I have been 175 mph in it, my old AWD Talon had no undertray on it and I had been 178 in it, etc.

I just talked to Tym about this "problem" though. We think that we can actually trim the undertray and let the bottom of the intercooler stick through it. This should allow for reinstalling it. In this case we will build a template that you can lay over the undertay and just make a mark to cut it.

We are leaving ours off. It is a pain in the butt to service the car with it on.

Thanks guys,

The undertray is a pain, but I think it helps undercar airflow. It is also curved towards the brake rotors which may help cool them a little

Hey, If I can run around the speedway on track days without losing stability... no biggie. If not, I, as others, will be finicky(sp?). From the posts here it seems just as many people spend time on the track as they do the strip.

To clarify, I don't bash David B. or his products. He is probably the most forth coming, and helpful DSM tuner/fabucator out there. I'd call him the Godfather of DSM. My opinion of the application of hard parts is just that... MY OPINION.

Your points are well taken, just to let you know. Like I had said earlier we were concerned with all the road race/autocrossers who have these cars and improving the airflow to the radiator was huge concern of ours.

I am going to attempt to get this undertray back on next week and see what it is going to take to make it work. I think just trimming the front center will make it go on.

That's a good move. One of the biggest improvements on the 8 versus the 7 is aerodynamics. The 8 has cleaner air flow under the car and behind the car. The front under tray in particular contributes largely to this.

Just to let you guys know that I can verify the Evo's stability up to 155-160mph without the front splash shield!

I did however bring the car in to the shop today to fit the shield. By trimming the front center section of the tray, it is back on the car. All of the directional channels remain intact.

Take care,

Dear David,

Can we install the axle back exhaust with no other adjustments and run safely and without triggering CEL?

Many thanks.

Yes, the axle back can be run without a CEL. We are also working on the fix for the CEL when removing the cat.

The new systems shouldn't have a problem.

Just thought I would pass this on if its OK with you David, I was on your sight today and I noticed that you lowered the Stage 1+2 kit down to $1,999. I should be ready to order on Monday. I have been doing all of my research of upgrades available through all of the vendors. I must say that I will be going with Buschur. I plan on going all out; one stage at a time. My one question for you would be should I wait for the AEM or just go with SAFC included in the 1+2 kit??
I cant wait I hope you have a whole kit ready!!!
