Hmm, well the setup sounds pretty sweet. I am curious though, do you think this is worth it over just a hobb's switch? I am almost 100 percent going to go with the boost progressive one from them but i am curious, do you think its worth it to upgrade to the progressive, my tuner said the hobb's switch ones work really well.

Bryan, nice numbers there!

BlaqOps looks like a good kit too. I am surprised you ran out of fuel so soon on a Walbro in-tank. Was this the HP version? Mine was strong enough that we questioned whether an inline was even necessary (we added it for safety, but the intank was solid).

Just want to comment on this too... I have an AMS (Walbro) external inline pump, and it makes ZERO noise. As a matter of fact, I originally wondered whether it was even working. Might be nice just to have a little sound just to know it's on. It definitely is though, so the insulated mount must be doing its job!

Bryan, any comments on the torque on this car? 450whp and only like 350wtq? I would hope for more like 400wtq with this size turbo, on E85, at this level of boost. Am I missing something? Maybe this is where the stock cams could see improvement?

Seems about right to me. It's 350wtq peak (down 20wtq from stock turbo peak) but it also maintains over 330wtq from 3800rpm to 7000rpm.

The larger turbos almost always make less peak trq at the same boost levels.

I'd have to look to make sure, but I also believe I'm running less timing in the low/mid range as well.

The angle I'm coming at is from my evo8, w/ bbk. I made 360whp/350wtq on an IX turbo, and now make 430whp/400wtq on the BBK.

Or is 'low' torque just typical on any aftermarket turbo on the X?

I think the intake manifold and head design of the X are really just optimized for about 3000-3500rpms. I'd say most of the turbo upgrades push the onset of peak boost past that area, hence the lower torque numbers. Just a guess.

The BBK full doesn't spool much slower than the stock 9 turbo so the peak torque spot is in the same VE area. Also, is that a 1:1 comparison? Peak boost and timing the same? Same fuel?

No, not a 1:1 at all, AFR is close, timing is higher on the BBK setup, and boost profile is obviously different, but peak boost is about 29 or 30 on both (Pump on alky). Parts setup is different as well, but I don't think my results are out of the ordinary, even on just pump gas I saw a solid 20wtq gain on my BBK before I ported the head.

My point was to look at a stock frame turbo on high octane, seems low on torque compared to an evo8/9...I guess I have seen mixed results from fp reds out there too, but not a ton of people are on E85 w/ aftermarket turbos yet.

I wouldn't say that. I originally thought that my cams didn't help much, but I'm starting to think that they do help TQ a lot more than HP (I origianlly attributed the TQ gain all to E85). A stock frame turbo also seems to want a lot of midrange boost in order to make TQ. Like as you increase boost after ~28psi, TQ goes up but HP stays more constant.

Yea I agree, it acts more like a larger non-stock frame turbo.

Just had a Evo 9 with a 35R make 463whp / 365wtq, which is the same spread as this 10.

Ya, but that made 300wtq @ 4600rpm, this setup makes 300wtq @ 3600rpm

Wow not sure how I missed this thread, but major props for a wicked powerband! With some fueling changes I also hope to see what higher boost, cams, and E85 can do for my setup.

Looks like you guys are closing in on 585 crank HP with a powerband to die for and could even dip into the high 10's @ 125-126 mph with a perfect launch.

You can really tell that even on E85 the stock turbo takes a flow dump after 5500 no matter what you do. Great numbers on the Dom2 and likely the most aggressive setup to date!
