How long until I can beat my first born?

I just picked up a brand new Evo X and I'm looking to do some very minor bolt-ons.

I'm curious how long I should wait before putting on a CBE and intake; with a tune of course. Is there a general rule of thumb as far as mileage goes? 500, 1000, 2000 miles?

I'm about 3 hours from both Buschur and CBRD Speedfactory, any suggestion regarding which one to go to?

Thanks.

How do you like your short throw shifter?

My initial impressions of the OEM shifter are not positive, rather clunky and sloppy. I've read you can fix this with some shifter bushings. What's the diff. between shifter base bushings and the under hood bushings?

i love the works shifter, much shorter and a more precise feel and also angles the shifter nicer. the base bushings go into the base of the actual shifter unit, while the under hood ones go at the end of the shifter cables at the transmission.

I had parts before I even had my car, but waited until 1500 miles to start doing performance mods.

I don't think it matters it's not like they put the engine together and trailer it to the dealer. They test and let the engines run. I had 10 miles on mine when I got it and beat on it. Now I'm at 14k with mods and no problems at all

I drove my car kinda aggressive after 100 miles then drove it like a stole it after 500miles, then i got full bolt-ons and tune at around 800miles. now i am at almost 11k miles and it runs like a champ.

Not to mention every car has to be tested to ensure it works properly at the factory and at the dealership. If you guys think your the first person to take your car 100mph+ your wrong.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm currently sitting at a little over 200 miles. Ideally I'd like to wait until I get 1000 miles before modding; no real rhyme or reason just a number I have stuck in my head. If I get to around 800 miles, I'll have my target by the time I drive to Buschur or CBRD.

What is the goal of shifter base bushings versus under hood bushings?

^^^^ there is no VS its for the same goal, its to reduce the notchiness and tighten up the shifting so its more accurate and less sloppy. Improves feel. I Highly recommend the Works Shifter and save some $$ by getting the complete kit, also make sure you select whether you have a 2008 or 2010 because the under hood bushings are different.

Those are 2 simple parts to install. Both shops will treat you good, but I would recommend installing the parts yourself, so you get some good hands on experience and then get a tune by one of them.
