So, thanks for the confirmation that FIC1100's are too small for my setup on e85! I'll def be going with the 1680's.

Is that the true extent of the modlist? Stock UICP, stock FMIC? Nice numbers!

I'm sure it is very accurate, relative to some particular dyno. It seems that Mustang dynos have the widest variance...I've seen some that read like Dyno Dynamics and some that read like Dynojet.

Well Bad news today. Was just driving taking a left hand turn hit about 5lbs of boost and BOOM... Started hearing a loud clicking, I drove it back to the shop and pulled the pan and noticed my rod pulled my wrist pin half way out of my piston FML>... from what I can tell that is the extent of the damage. I will be pulling the motor shortly and will keep you all posted.

I hope nothing else happened. There was a bunch of big metal casting looks like its from the bottom of the piston. I hope that is all. I dont know to be upset or happy i guess my 2.2l stroker will be coming a lot faster now..

I can't say I am surprised...the stock block just can only take so much.

If you didn't vent the block...be happy...very happy!

I feel your pain though man, been there done that. Good luck on getting it going again.

Ouch, less than a week and you blew the motor...that's why you don't run FP Black on stock internals...

Congrats on the numbers, but I'm sorry that your motor went. My car should be completed this week with an FP Black as well, and I hope my stock block will hold up.

Hoping won't keep your motor together...even under 30psi his went. Run like 25psi if you want your motor to have a chance.

Just don't chase numbers and you'll be fine.

I feel the same way. FP black going in soon for me as well on stock block, but I will be on 93.

Well I guess somethings are inevitable.

Sorry to hear about the car. Really goes to show people that FP Blacks and stock motor just cant be pushed. Even trying to keep the torque low can only do so much.

Sounds like a strange failure, I have yet to see that happen before. Almost sounds like the piston material around the pin boss was weak? Maybe a casting problem? Hard to say without pictures.

Let me know if we can help with anything.

Mitch

not that im doubting or don't believe you, but it seems weird to me when you say that "it pulled the wrist pin from the piston" usually when i see this its from a missed shift or over-rev not during a casual shift @ 5psi. any chance you missed a shift recently or had been running @ high RPM for extended periods?

id love to see some pics of the carnage once you get her apart

Well after looking at it a little closer.. the motor is still not out I noticed the rod to be pretty bent. Seems to be the rod being bent put a lot of stress on the wrist pin therefor causing the bottom casting of the piston to break. I have pics of the pieces but its still hard to see up inside the block.. Just a quick question what would be the Ultimate motor for a FP black in your opinion? I want to see everything this FP black has in it.. Billet crank? I- beams? HD pistons? Stroker? just curious.

Well I was in the car that night and was just randomly looking at the boost gauge when he was going around that turn and its hard to account for how fast the boost hits on the FP Black. It went to at least 20 psi and fluttered and we heard a tick. It was extremely cold that night. The killer is how fast the FP black goes from 0 psi to 30 psi. Its pretty crazy. Like 16g fast.

What I think happened and from what I can see through the pan is the rod bent and hit the cylinder wall on its way back up. There is a good rod sized dent in the cylinder right at the bottom. The rod also has two bends in it which tells me it had two catastrophic events. So the wrist pin getting damaged was because of the weak X rods hitting the wall and putting a ton of pressure on the pin.
