Sorry to hear about your situation, some of us were lucky with the stock block and a black (I ran it on road courses just fine) and some blow up right away.

There's two answers to your question. If the black is as large a turbo as you'll ever go, then a stroker 2.3 or 2.5 is the way to go. Reason being the black runs out of steam around 7500-8000rpm, and a stroker will rev to 8k or so, so it all lines up. You get bigger torque, faster spool, and it all lines up perfectly.

If, however, you ever think you'll want more than the 600whp or so a black will push, then a 2.2 overbore is the way to go, as it can rev much higher and on a 35r turbo will make much more power due to the revs. It will also spool similar to a 2.3, not quite as nice as a 2.5.

So, I'd go 2.5 or 2.2, depending on future plans.

Has anyone ever ran over 600hp on a FP black? When i was talking to AMS they said that my Fp Black would love a 2.2l I plan on building the block to hold anything i through at it.. I beams, Billet crank, HD pistons, ARP everything. Im just unsure what motor to do, so im researching but i want to start buying my parts.

I am pretty much there...was at 570, just added a tubular manifold last week and once I get retuned I am pretty sure I will crack 600 with ease.

if you want to stay with your FP black, you could run a built 2.0, which is what Murlo is running and he is having great results, or you could go overbore to a 2.2 and spool it faster yet keeping 9k redline.

Well murlo's motor just blew... And when I was at AMS they were really big about there 2.2L and being able to rev up to 10k

So far i think ill be going this route

Manley I beams
some sort of HD piston
Billet crank

AMS spec cams
duel spring and titanium retainers

and some other minor parts.

A 2.2L sounds good, AMS will take care of you for sure.
