2012 power variance?

After following this thread, it makes me glad I bought a 2011 instead of a 2012. I just wonder why Mitsubishi would change things when the run of Evo's will soon come to an end in 2013? It would almost appear that they were trying to reduce emissions and possibly increase fuel economy ever so slightly.

It's difficult to say. Who knows what's going on in 's head. They may have some secret initiative for racers that we just haven't tapped into yet. They may be trying to make something work for regulations. They may just be complete jerks to screw with us . Whatever the reason, we'll find a solution eventually

I've been getting my '12 up to par and I have the same issue at 5000-5300. I look at the logs/files and there's nothing that's out of place or not smoothed at all. Very confused as to what's going on and why it's happening. I do have knock (1-2 sum count) which is enough to start lowering the timing a few degrees at those RPM's. I will not have knock anywhere else, except for those rpm's. Weird. This is only running 22psi with everything stock, except an air intake and IC plumbing.

1- Make the car/engine/etc last 100,000 miles for a warranty they deny anyway.
2- Make the trans last for a warranty they deny anyway
3- Make the engine maintain a decent level of performance but focus on emissions first and foremost then mileage, lastly add horsepower.
#3 is why the exhaust port and valve is so small. Light the cat off quick by making it run WAY HOT and dont worry about the long term effects of EGT. 2012 is the way it is because they have watched us with this car for the last 4 years and know what we can already do. For them it was a quick software change and then its finito.
What we really need is a universal ROM for all years like the VIII has. None of the other parts have changed (least by PN) so if we can control it exactly the same then we can remove the last part of the puzzle.

p.s. They all need standalones anyway, GawDang torque management is for the birds...chirp chirp.

so... if I'm reading this correctly (and understanding it too)
Anything that isn't precisely tuned to work around these issues like mods with no tunes etc. will make the car go boom?
All in the name of a smaller carbon footprint?
lame
