I'm a bad person, sorry. Work is killing me. I'll get mine in the mail asap, no shipping payback required.

I'm kinda glad I was pointed to this thread, definitely explains my woes. I had the pleasure of being tuned by Aaron yesterday, but the results were a little less than I expected. ETS intake, test pipe and V2 quiet exhaust resulted in 326/309, uncorrected, in a 60*F temperature. I was expecting to see 340s or so, not really understanding why I came in short.

So, Aaron, looks like I'll be coming in for cams

Really? I thought those bolt-ons were supposed to be in the 340 range. Perhaps I misunderstood the expected gains. I suppose GSC S1 cams wouldn't be bad to have either way

340s is normally with a downpipe, but as we talked about until your plans are finalised on what turbo there is good reason to hold off. I think you are on the higher edge of the 2012s so far for the mods done though.

We can do cams in the meantime

Aaron did he have any base pulls to compare? I am thinking of heading that route as well.

Ok, that makes me feel a lot better, actually I was a little worried by this thread. And yes, as we discussed, I'm trying to take the logical path. Incremental progress skimming the edge of sanity

I don't think so, no, I believe the first pull I had was with the bolt-ons already installed with the stock tuning. That was 278/277 @ 19.8 psi, according to my dyno printout. I would give English a call and get your plans finalized, you will not be disappointed, they are top notch guys!

Cams don't help out nearly as much as they did on the 8's (which cams helped a ton without mivec) or even the 9's.

I wouldn't suggest installing cams on the stock turbo, buy a small turbo upgrade instead as the cam install is expensive and gains aren't great.

Maybe if the 2012's+ really do have a smaller cam it will help more, but 08, 10, 11 model years it didn't do squat (well except mid range was fatter, but you are looking at peak gains).

Depends on how high your peak numbers are

But yes, that is true but not what this thread is about. People seem to be upset that their peak numbers are lower and no one has mentioned the actual powerband yet. If the cams are truly smaller then the midrange should be better on the 12s/13's.

If the duration and lift were lower, yes I would agree.

If the problem is dowel pin location or cam sensor interface I am not sure we'd see better mid range since the MIVEC mapping would be off. The next 2012 I get I am going to go step by step on the MIVEC, like 5* increments again. The last time I tested I went stock, halfway stock, my map. If the apparent location is misreported or incorrect then I might have moved over the issue since 3-4* can make a difference.
