MY14 FP Red E85 Vs 93

Just finished self-tuning my MY14 WW Evo X GSR with a dual tune using TephraXmodV2, map switching. Looking forward to V3 with full flex.

Thanks to Chet for helping me through a couple of issues (P0300 and also min IPW patch).

Still need to strap it to a Dyno and do final checks etc.

Happy with the way the car drives around town, current specs are;

Forged 4b11
JE Pistons
Manley TT Ibeams
JB FP Red
ARP Mains and head studs
Stage 2 Cams with upgraded springs and retainers
FIC2150's
Boomba rail with Fuel Labs FPR
4" Self made IC
Custom IC Piping
3" Widemouth DP
Rexspeed TP with 200cpi Cat
Trust CBE
AEM Intake
Grimspeed 3 Port
Exedy Twin Plate Clutch
AEM WB AFR

Suspension mods include, HSD Coilovers, Whiteline F&R Swaybars, Roll Centre Kit, Adjustable Rear Arms.

The car is a DD and see's some track time on the weekends.

Runs were done with a tank full of fuel, full stereo (custom sub box, amp, laptop and car full of usual junk and me), Ie full street trim. I'm 6'6 and 220 lbs.

Dialing in the launch maps and can build 15psi off the line pretty easily and spin all 4 wheels in the dry and in the wet the first 3 gears......

There is still a little bit of fine tuning to do, however, for now, with no knock and a modest tune, it's driving well.

I've owned the car for 15 months now and love it, it's been an expensive (after the first engine hand-grenaded) car to buy/build, but the most fun car I've owned.

A decent amount left in it on E85. Good numbers though.

I think you're right, there is still more boost, timing and mivec that could unleash some more power, but a MAP upgrade would be necessary and the intake is on the limits for voltage (running 4.8+V) and hit 5V once on 93 (98 here in Australia).

With one engine having gone boom, I'm a little more cautious this time.......

Is it relevant you made more torque? You have a smaller turbo, it spools faster and likely makes more peak torque. Just like how I make a **** load of torque but it drops to nothing up top.

By the way, just giving ya crap man but trying to say it's easy to get higher peak torque with smaller turbos. It's all about how much torque you can carry up top which translates to more power.

Not relevant, the Red is capable of much more. OP left it conservative for reliability concerns. This is a 600hp turbo. Kill mode to kill mode, your 18k wouldn't touch it..

I'm surprised no-one commented on the clutch slip on the 93 run. Time for a rebuild of the twin plate.

Yeah, I've considered ditching it, however, the fine for not running one here in Australia is more than the cost of a forged engine......

I used to run catless on my old car and love the exhaust flames when on the limiter...

Easier to leave it in for the sake of a few HP.

how about a gutted cat so it looks like you have one, or do they do sniffer tests?

With cams on a built motor on e85, without a cat. You should be able to make like 550 whp. You losing more than a few hp. What you should do is, get a cut out and weld in the cat after it. Than you have the best of both worlds.

You don't see self tune much, let alone at these power levels. Don't listen to the "I saw another guy make more power or tq somewhere at some point on some dyno, or at least I read about it." Your torque curve is nice and flat, your afr isn't all over the place and in a good spot. Great job and enjoy that monster!

Do you know why/how the 1st engine grenaded?

Thanks for the positive comment. The 1st engine went from too much torque through the stock rods. I was at a track day and had some issue with overboost and knock on the straight in 4th and 5th gears. This was on a pro-tune but I understand that **** happens.
