Chris Robbins 35R spec turbo ••••

So lately I've been peer impressed with the turbo's that Chris Fobbins At turbos R us has been making. His 35r spec designed Luke the GTX3576r makes the same top end power but spoils easily 1000rpm sooner than the GTX model.
peopme have speculated that these turbos won't last long but I know someone who's been using one for almost 3yrs no probs at all.
heres a quick look at the boost plot of the 35r spec turbo

this car is a 2011 Evo x gsr fbo's running e85 fuel
214c cams
arp head studs
02 dump dp
straight pipe exhaust
ams 3inch cai
ets fmic UICP/licp
fic2150cc
wally450lph pump
tuned on e85 maxing boost at 30psi
GTX 3576r turbo

Stock frame or T3 setup?

Also, you say "fbo", so, stock short block? That's not gonna last long.

It's stock frame.

The comparison posted is weak. Since you tuned both can you overlay the boost plots into one graph. I have a hard time believing the same wheels stuffed in the same housing spools 1,000 rpm better than another.

You're right Bryan, That 1st pic picture is pretty ****ty. Didn't notice that till I just looked. Hahah you can't even see the spool. I'll can say though that it hits 29psi by 41-4200rpm. Compared to the gtx which is in the mid 5k range

Well There's a few people using it who can confirm and believe me, I wasn't expecting that either. It really looks almost like a MHI 18k Spool spoy minus holding 27psi to 8k.

Somehow Chris R Made it happen. Ask him

so how about you post the full boost curves then since those are both your datalogs? Both in 3rd gear.

i might say some outlandish stuff at times that can bite me in my *** but I can assure you this turbo spools just a little later then the 18k and I was very shocked with the difference from the GTX 35r Spool which I have a hard time getting it to hit full boost under 5 k. To clarify when I say full boost I just mean 30psi (stock block full boost) Even with a good mivec ign timing afr setup I highly doubt it'll hit 30+ psi before 5 k
chris robbins I'm sure could Chime in to verify spool characteristics of his turbos and the guys I tuned on this turbo all saw it and I showed them the GTX spool. Maybe chris R just really knows how to build a good turbo..? Better then Garrett. Wouldn't that be impressive.
his ef3 spec model is light yrs ahead of maperformances design. Quicker spool, more hp, sicnificantly more hp. It was hard to get it to make less then 520hp cuz it wants to go hard. My wgdc was at 7- to keep it under 30 psi and at a mere 30-35 at 7k to keep it under :9 psi8 in the 3500-4500

Try one out and see for yourself. You won't regret it

You know he doesn't actually design the wheels, right? He just mills the housings and assembles the turbos.

Most of his 35R variants use the Garrett GTX compressor wheel.

Btw, I suggest not posting on forums when drunk...

Yeah, and nearly impossible. I want to see what the turbine wheel looks like. I have a suspicion that Chris is using TD06H turbine wheels with 76R compressor wheels...which is not exactly revolutionary. BUT, I would be interested to see how many blades are on the turbine.
