X SSS owners: Is that radio worth it?

When I had my IX, I thought the stock GSR radio was awful. The SSL radio was a bit better, but still not great. I had a 335i and the Logic7 in that car pwnt.

My question is this: Is the SSS package worth it? Is the Rockford stereo really nice? I could do HIDs later and am either way on the spoiler, so the stereo is a huge choice on the SSS. The best thing to do on the IX was to rip the OEM radio out and go aftermarket. But in the X its integrated a lot more deeply.

Input appreciated!

I came from an IS350 with the Mark Levinson stereo and I think the Rockford Fosgate system sounds just as good.

You won't be able to tell how good it is from other people's opinions. If you local dealer doesn't have any X's yet, you could also sit in a regular Lancer with the Rockford stereo. It's the same stereo in the Lancer and the Evo X. Then you'll know if it's good enough for you

Assuming that the system in the X is the same as what comes in the GTS I'd have to say it is awesome for a factory system. The sub puts out plenty of base and the rest of the system has good mids and highs. The only thing you need to watch out for is the sub rattling. After a while mine started to rattle and the crappy plastic cover behind the back seats has started to rattle some too. Probably going to need to go over everything with a fine toothed comb and tighten things down. You won't be disappointed though, trust me.

Thank you all. My local dealer has no X yet. I didn't know it was the same radio in the GTS either. I really appreciate the tips.

The system is awesome, but I still have to figure out how to set up the base a little better.

OK, just drove 45 miles up to northside to drive a GTS for the first time. I can't believe how much better screwed together that car felt than my IX.

The Rockford stereo was lots better than the IX stereo, but lots worse than the 335i Logic7. It has lots more bass than the Bimmer stereo, but way less quality speakers in the front, worse placement, not as much clarity.

All in all I could live with it, though. If I get an X over the 135i, I will take the SSS package.

SE USA, we're looking at the second week of February for dealership delivery. I'd do Southcoast, but I need to drive one of these first. I don't really want to fly out to LA and cross country the car back.

If the SS is the same on the GTS, then it's great.
Got a good thump.
Sounds better when you use original tracks vs mp3s, naturally.
Could use another 10".
lol

get it for the HIDS for sure; I modded my Evo VIII SSL radio and replaced it with a better higher end unit, which REALLY brought out the beauty of the system, so def do it from an Evo VIII owners perspective. . .

Question is can you hook up your zune/ipod to it? Via the 3.5 headphone jack?

If not, I gotta keep looking.
