Trunk space for side mounted subs?

For those of you that are lucky enough to already own a X, do you think that there is enough trunk space over each wheel well to mount a 12" sub in them? Would that be the best place to do it, while trying to maintain a decent sized trunk. I read that the trunk was 6.7 cubic feet, or something like that.

trunk is much smaller than the 9. If you put a 12" sub in each corner, theyre gonna have to be pretty shallow boxes.

What about that factory rockford enclosure that's on the drivers side in the trunk??
That's seems to not be in the way. I can have on of those to sell in 3 months.

I already have 2 brand new 12" 1500 watt Clarions that are waiting for the MR. Besides, isn't the Rockford a 10"; I really like my bass.

yeah, but the rockford is not a 12 like the OP asked... its a 10" sub and the plastic box is pretty shallow... It sounds "ok" in my opinion and nothing to cry home about.

Yea, I'm probably going to mount a Kicker L5 12" in the tire well and do some custom set-up for it.

as ewoevo suggested, the floor is your only option...

the right hand side (passenger) houses the reservoir for the awc/ayc hydraulic fluid, towards the rear seat is windshield washer reservoir on the left and battery relocate on the right

the driver side is the only open spot, which is why they put the sss sub there.

Does the reservoir on the right side stick out? If it doesn't what's wrong with putting a sub on that side as well? How often do you think that would even need to be accessed?

I'm just trying to keep whatever little space is there functional. I don't want to have to worry about shredding the sub cone, or buying an ugly grille for that thing (if it were in the spare tire well). I'm also thinking about using that space for my gigantasaurus amp.

the sss sub is in the spot where the reservoir is on the opposite side, so it doesnt stick out into the middle. if that explanation helps at all.

if you put the sub in front of it theres probably 6 inches before its in the trunk lid area... where as the sss sub still leaves a few inches before its in that space. so what you are suggesting could be done, it would just seem like it sticks out.

this might help show what im talking about.. the sides from the trunk lid are pretty shallow
