Also people are having to burn like 10-15 CDs to correctly up load the correct files or whatever. Some have even had to take their cars back to the dealership to get new NAVs put in. It just seems to me, the possible headache you have to go through to get it to work would not be worth it, especially running the risk of crashing the NAV player or having to go back to the dealership to get a new one.

Thoughts?
You have the right to your opinion. If you're uneasy about making a mod to a OEM part, don't do it. If you're inexperienced with creating a quality burned iso, don't do it. If you're worried about voiding your warranty, don't do it.

That being said, it took 1 burned CD and one try at updating it for mine to work properly.

As for the warranty, it's software. Mitsubishi service centers have mechanics. They do one thing: overwrite the software. They don't go in and debug what caused the software problem. It's a waste of their time. If you mod your NAV software and it fails, play it stupid, make up some story about a crazy error message when you were recording a CD and voila, they wipe it clean and you get to try again.

Are you sure you are looking at the Application version?

If the app version is earlier than 00.30.94 you can use the methods posted.

Can you post a pic of the screen?

I'll try to get one later. I am pretty sure that is the application version and it comes out of the Versions menu after you press SET-NAVI.

So as I understand it, if I have a earlier than 30.94, it will update the application to 30.94 and give me the in-motion DVD ability?

My navigation unit was dealer installed in my car when I purchased it. Looks like I may have gotten ripped off. There were 8 music albums already on the hard drive when I got the car... pretty strange for a new car with 5 miles on the Odometer!

I am not too happy about receiving a used navigation unit in my brand new car. I am trying to reach the dealer to see what they can do.

Here's some pictures of my application versions and map and CDDB version.

This looks like it is out of something that is not an Evo 10. Application version 00.20.68 is usually found on early production 2008 Lancers (sold in 2007).

According to the Mitsubishi web site http://www.mitsubishi-motors.com/dow...n_mmcs_03.html the CDDB version I have is up to 2006. Maps up to date from 2005.

I think you're correct. My 08 Lancer which I purchased in April of 07 came with that same version. But if you download the 00.30.94 patch, it will upgrade you.

Could of been from a test drive, I know when I drove one I brought a CD along to test the system and it started ripping my music

Yeah .. test drive of a 1 year old Lancer or Outlander... the application version, maps etc all pre-date the Evo X's release.

I've no doubt this was pulled from another car and put into my Evo when they sold it to me.

You're after LoadingView..
So far : autopatch is working.
Unpacking and extraction of files from any of the modules is working.
Replacement and repack works for the FS module..
This means that alternate language packs are a possibility ( textual ones, anyways ), and replacement of any of the images.
I should also be able to prevent drive-locking, and disable the OK nag button.

I'm working on being able to edit and repack the OS - I don't know what use this will be, but I like to be complete.

Once this is done I'l start looking into custom gui features : you basically have a fully software accessible CAN system available to you. .I'm sure there are many fun, funky, and unimagined (by the manufacturer) things that can be done with it.

atb.

Patch did not work for me. It asked me for to insert the "key" into the slot under the navigation to update. It would not let me continue without the "key".
