Metra unit.. Differences over stock unit?

Sorry to sound like an absolute noob but what's the difference between the Metra and stock install unit besides the obvious hump on top of the Metra?

STOCK unit

Metra Unit

Ummm, that top picture Nav doesn't look like the stock Nav. Where's the buttons?

the material on the metra unit is plastic, just look at your dash column to get an idea of it..the stock unit matches the dash better...imo the plastic does not look out of place but ive already had one friend comment on it saying that it looked a bit cheap, i think a nice paint job could make it look better

My sentiments exactly. The stock unit looks better and i was just wondering why everyone's checking out the Metra when it looks a bit weird with the top popping out like that.

I believe the above pic is the JDM dash from the RS which has no radio.

correct, even the base gsr model in japan and elsewere comes with this piece, meaning no radio.

i think that japanparts.com or somebody can get this piece and additional brackets to mount a radio, gauges or 2 din aftermarket units
