ipod cable with nav?

Anyone have the factory ipod cable and the built in nav system, just wondering how well it works, how many features it supports? Like does it display album/artist/track info? etc. Anyway just wondering how people like it.

No, the "iPod" cable is simply a mini audio jack. Just the sound - nothing else.

It also sucks that for the price of the NAV that they couldn't integrate full ipod functionality that you can get on any cheap aftermarket deck these days.

That's my heart burn. My $200 Alpine head unit had it. Major fail on Mitsu's part.

Who cares about iPod functionality, really? Not everyone and their mom has an iPod. I'm much happier that Mitsubishi decided NOT to support one technology, and ignore all the others. IMO supporting ALL technologies by providing a universal plug, is way better than providing something that only supports iPod functions. That's always been the problem with Apple and Apple consumers. People think that just because they have an iPod, that EVERYONE does, and wants that functionality. As cool as iPods are, I would never purchase one because of their lack of desire to support technologies that are universal.

Besides, with up and coming bluetooth profiles (like A2DP, AVRCP, etc.) the future won't be using cables, but rather a standard that all digital audio player makers can follow. Then anyone can use any audio player on any system, as long as it supports bluetooth.

Apparently alot of people care including myself and other posters. Apple owns over 85% of the market so it makes sense to have it. You happen to be in the minority so imposing your dislike for Apple isn't going to sway anyone. Bluetooth is nice but it has flaws in that it consumes more battery life and you still end up using a cable to charge your mp3 player so true wireless is still a ways away until there is a break-thru in battery technology.

Agreed that Mitsu slipped up by not having better iPod integration.

But, the HDD works just as well as any iPod. Problem is recording all of your CDs onto it

Sounds like another apple hater... So I guess we should tell BMW, Honda, Acura, Nissan, etc to remove their IPOD functionality. How about this novel idea that most of these companies use, provide a universal input and also an apple interface so that we can safely change our music while driving...

Hardly. Who made the stupid decision to keep all the music ordered how you loaded it into the system? What about trying to find an album by artist or album by album name? Nope- it's in the order you loaded it (unless you make custom groups for all of your music). I find that I use CD-RWs loaded with MP3s more often than I do the music server.
